Me too. It's really not unlike a religion of its own. Ann Rand is the prophet. The efficient, self-correcting, self-policing free-market is the imaginary god. The government is the devil. The trickle-down reward from tax cuts for the wealthy is the promise of their heaven.

Like a lot of ex-Muslims and ex-Christians, I look back on what I used to believe with amazement, and not the good kind.

RE: Voting Day
Election day was a sad day in the USA.

Democrats are not at fault for the current economic situation.

I can't point to any group, but the Democratic response is the correct one.

You have to stop job loss to prevent an economic implosion, and sometimes that includes government spending.

George Bush knew what was happening in 2008. One of his top economic advisers came to him and said if you don't do something and do something fast we could have another depression. George W. Bush authorized TARP, the 700 billion dollar bailout of Wall Street and banks.

President Obama's bailout of the auto industry and the stimulus bill are just as necessary.

You see, economy is mainly dependent upon capital, infrastructure, and labor. Businesses need capital to do business, infrastructure for access to commerce, and labor is important for production and consumption.

I've heard that economists agree that the Democratic congress's actions prevented job loss.

Unfortunately I think Obama is now a lame duck President. Last I heard, Congress is going to continue the Bush tax cuts for people making over 250,000 dollars a year, and it is going to cut Social Security and Medicare in ways. For instance, they are going to increase the age of qualification and make cuts to the yearly increases.

By the way, we want to keep the tax cuts for the people making under 250,000. They need it.

That is the evil of conservatism. They want people who make over 250,000 a year to pay nothing to the government, but they cut money to people who make less than 12,000 dollars a year.

I did my part. I voted straight Democrat excepting for a commissioner I had heard people saying good things about.

Ten schools closed down in a city near me. I can't help but think that they might be staying open if it wasn't for this rabid, emotionally based reaction to cut spending and cut taxes.

Cut funding to the U.N.? I say end the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. The need for war and unilateralism is a symptom of Republican greed. It's the military industrial complex. Republicans want war to make blood money. That's what cutting funding to the U.N. and cutting foreign aid is about. That's what privatizing the military with contractors is about.

End funding for public broadcasting? No. People need access to broadcasting that is nonpartisan. If the Republicans had their way they would end net neutrality. Companies could decide how much to charge you for access to certain sites, or they could block you all together. They don't like a site advocating for net neutrality? They'll pull the plug. A site advocates against Republican candidates who would give tax breaks to the media conglomerates? They'll pull the plug. It would be a line that once crossed would mark the end of free speech and Democracy in America. The Republicans have all ready done it with the fairness doctrine, which was supposed to open up broadcasting to a diversity of viewpoints. Instead the Republicans are relentlessly attacking "liberal" media. They want an unlimited propaganda platform and won't stop until they get it.

I'm going to keep fighting. I'm going to vote every voting year. But I don't have any hope left. It is my prediction that in 2012 the country will elect a Republican President. The Supreme Court will shift further to the Republican side. There will be a full federal ban on abortion. Homosexuality will be a capital crime. The official religion will become Christianity and the official language will be English. Immigration will be outlawed. A Republican Congress will declare war on Iran, Palestine, and North Korea at least. A draft will be initiated. Since colleges will be closed or closing because people aren't educated enough to go to school there will be no legitimate excuse to opt out. They will respond to riots with martial law. Since minorities will be most affected, they will use the riots and unemployment as an excuse to restart slavery. I could go on. We'll try to fight back, but America will be finished.

My question to Democrats is where are we going to draw the line? You know and I know they won't stop until what I've described happens. What will be the last straw? What should we do?

Then I'll get on my knees and pray!

Don't get fooled again!
No, no!
Meet the new boss!
Same as the old boss!"

I agree but what's even more sad is how the Democrats are reacting to it. Actually, it's fully in accordance to how the Democrats have been acting for the last 10 years.

Democrats: "If you think you're going to pass another boon for the corporations or a windfall tax break for the rich, you're... you're... going to have to negotiate strenuously ...with me... or something..."

Republicans: "Boo"

Democrats: (wimpering, cowering) "OhGodOhGodOhGodOhGodOhGodOhGodOhGodOhGod" (collapses into the fetal position) "Please don't hurt me."

The damage done by Bush is small compared to the opportunities squandered by Obama and his sniveling, wimpy outreach.

The Washington, D.C. isn't a state, but a Federal District.

Indeed. Our whole political system must seem Byzantine to those who didn't grow up with it. It's such a collage of compromise. That was back during the day when left and right could compromise.

Yes, I realize you aren't from the USA, that's why I was letting you know.
