...and the Democrats were trounced by the Republicans this past Tuesday because of Obama. "Can you not remember that? Do you have a head injury or something?" Obama promised "shovel ready" jobs and a stable economy. He and the Democrats failed to deliver on both. November 2nd showed that the voters were tired of hearing the same old, "Blame Bush and the Republicans", tripe from the left. Americans don't want Obama's socialized health care. It was near the top of the list as to why the Dems were beaten this election. Hardly a Democrat campaigned on Obama's health care reform.

RE: Voting Day
Actually, we do want the healthcare Obama intended, but we didn't get it, because of the obstructionist Republicans. Republicans like to point and say, "Look! The Democrats have run congress for 4 years and the White House for 2 and haven't accomplished a thing!"... as if they weren't obstructing every attempt the Democrats have made to give the people what they asked for.

Quote:So a collapsed economy under the Republicans in 2008 is better then?

I still don't follow your logic.
The logic is that the Democrats have not delivered on their "Hope and Change". Under the Obama administration and the Democrats, unemployment, nation wide, remains at near 10%. Just this morning the Labor Department announced that better than 450,000 new unemployment claims have been filed, 20,000 more than when last reported. We're worse off with the Dems in office.

...poor Democrats. Why do you think they were trounced in the national and state elections elections?

Because the democrats failed to give the people what they simultaneously wanted and not wanted?

You cannot ask for healthcare and deny asking for healthcare, which seems to be the prevailing thought process for 90% of Americans.

Or you can fall back to delusional land, where the bailouts were all Obama, the economy was all Obama, the recovery time for economics (despite being longer) should have been done in the all Obama time and health care was all Obama.

Seriously, you're reeking of whack job like those elderly tea partiers protesting against government healthcare while riding around in government provided (Medicare) wheelchairs.

Actually, yes they do. Most of the disappointment over "Obamacare" was that it didn't go far enough.

I'm curious about what you think. Are you seriously happy with the American health care system? How would you solve the problem?

So you maintain that:

Economic collapse in 2008 > Sluggish growth in 2010

???

Mostly, I'm just trying to understand what he's thinking. I keep hearing "spend less" and "do something about the jobs" (most job losses have been public sector jobs), "cut taxes" and "the debt is too high". How do you spend less and create more jobs? How do you cut 700 billion in taxes and reduce the debt at the same time?

Well, regardless, as I've said, the silver lining is that now the Republicans actually have to put something forward now. They're in charge of the House which sets the budget. It's easy to say "spends less and stuff". If the president is savvy, he'll say "I'm interested to see what you guys come up with". Maybe the Republicans will embarrass themselves enough for a progressive comeback in 2012.

Obama has acted like a milquetoast moderate, demoralizing the base. Young voters didn't vote. Polls reflect that registered voters preferred Democrats, likely voters preferred Republicans. Republicans like you were fired up. Democrats weren't.

This is what made voters angry. This is why the nation woke up on November 3rd to a Republican conservative take over.

Breaking news!

Guess what Mitch McConnell, Republican leader in the Senate, has announced his first order of business and primary concern for the coming two years.

Wait for it...

Repealing the reforms to health care.

That's right, he's putting his efforts into repealing health care reform instead of focusing on the "nation's immediate problems, jobs and the economy".

Oh the irony.

That should come as no surprise seeing that 3 of his top 10 contributers were medical insurance companies.

Just this morning the US Labor Department announced that there were 151,000 jobs added to the US economy in October.

Quote:"Department report released Friday. Private job growth had been overwhelmed by the elimination of temporary decennial Census jobs and layoffs by state and local government during the summer and early fall — until October. "
Quote:Still, the economy has a long way to go before the world brightens for many Americans. Nearly 15 million people are out of work and actively looking, and the unemployment rate, which remained steady at 9.6 percent, has been relatively flat since May.

I think you might need to start substantiating your claims in the future.

What? Right wing claims didn't hold out when closely inspected. Color me shocked! Shocked, I tells ya.

I just saw the same article, too. It seems Obama has been adding private sector jobs steadily and did really well this last month. The only job losses have been in the public sector. Partly, this is because of the end of the census but public cutbacks played a role. Hence, when the Reps cut spending you can expect the problem to get worse. Sad
