Oddly enough, the conflict in israel is the one of the few things that christian nationalists and muslim extremists agree on. Our nutters think it's jesus bait.

Actually, what has been done is to abandon any pretense of being a potential honest broker for a peace deal. That idea was on life support anyway but now it is dead.
I imagine the more important muslim states will take some symbolic measures in retaliation but the crazies will come out of the woodwork. And you're right. The WLB has just told the jihadis that they were right all along.
A monumental fuck up. I wonder if Sheldon Adelson is worth it?

Palestine is an occupied piece of land. First by Britain, then by Jewish gangs and believers in zionism.
How come Americans fought British colonization, and even got the White House torched in the 19th century war, but Palestinians and Muslims have no right fighting the Redcoats' Jewish proxy? Double standards could not be any clearer.
I think it's common sense for an American nationalist to stand against the colonies of the Redcoats. And Israel is just the most recent colony, that is ironically fell to the U.S's list of obligations.

You're asking the wrong person. If you ask our nutter wing..which is what provides the groundswell of virtue signalling support for israel, god gave them that land..so the other guys can just shut up.
OTOH, the political value of having a US ally spiked into the earth all the way back in the med cut and in a strategically and culturally important portion of the ME is obvious.I Ideologically, we make alot of noise about aligning ourselves with people who seek self determination in their homes..but the truth is that we fail that very attractive portion of our sales pitch with regularity...and that aligning ourselves with every separatist faction would make us international pariahs.

Exactly, extremism would hit the skies with this, and Jihadies would just say: "see ? see?? I told you all along!".
I still hold my belief that Jerusalem is a city important to so many religions. Nobody has the right to force a certain religion on it; neither Judaism nor Islam nor Christianity. Everybody has a right in it.
Invading the place, and take it by force, is a mere thug mentality. And thugs always meet the worst kinds of ends. I don't expect a lot from Muslim governments -actually I expect nothing-; but I'm expecting a lot from those who want to change the region (super powers), and the locals.

Jerusalem should be nuked from orbit.... it's the only way to be sure.
Of course I would give all the inhabitants time to evacuate but the cost of its existence is simply too high. Too many asswipes think it is "holy."

If it does escalate into yet another major regional conflict, I hope my part of the world stays out of it.
Of course, Australia won't. Our politicians will rush in to support America like the good little sycophants they are.
