Men's Rights Movement
RE: Men's Rights Movement
Also I find it kinda funny that using the word "dipshit" once in a post, a word that the person I was responding to had previously used, somehow means I "lost my cool" or "blew a gasket".

Personally I'm not fond of any group that complains about small societal disadvantages - whenever I find myself disadvantaged I'll do what it takes to actually be competitive, not complain that society's structure doesn't favor me. Obviously there are some fights (like feminism before women could vote) that require institutional change to give people opportunity, but hard work is usually a surprisingly effective remedy at overcoming many inequalities. It also has the side effect of proving people's biases wrong, which effects change in its own right.

Whatever issue specifically you have with how society is trying to slot you - deviate there, and strongly, with enough effort that you actually aren't disadvantaged anymore.

How small is small

Surmountable. Such that you can still achieve your goals if you are determined to do so.

This would vary by person, depending on how able they are naturally or what their circumstances allow. But, if the alternative is focusing on a weakness, already it would be more productive just to work hard and embrace the challenge. Winning is fun, but overcoming a challenge is so much better. And I think overcoming those challenges is the only way to actually change society - not on a level of what is politically correct, but on a level of how people actually behave. If we want more female CEOs or scientists, women going after those professions will cause that change more than anything else in impacting society's views and the actual numbers in those careers. It's one of my favorite sayings, be the change you wish to see in the world. Nothing embodies that better than literally defying some statistic that says that by odds you shouldn't be a CEO. The time for organized action, in my view, is when there are institutional barriers limiting people, not societal ones.

I thought the same but was done arguing.

Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

Quote:That prostate cancer also sucks, and should also get funding?
That men get more prison time for the same crime, and it should be equal?
That men get screwed in child custody courts and should get more time with their kids?
That women have it harder in society but men also have certain disadvantages that shouldn't be ignored?
Which ironically enough is all caused by very cultural patriarchy feminists oppose

Quote:That's why egalitarianism is important. It removes the gendered label, it can focus on a plethora of issues including sexism
There is nothing the term egalitarian offers that intersectional feminism does not .

Quote:Since most feminists aren't focusing on men's rights issues, the MRA movement sprung up.
False . And the MRA are virtually doing nothing to help men

1. It's mostly men who die in wars because for the vast majority of human history women were not allowed to join . And  ironically some of the very people who complain about this are the very people who say woman should not be in the military or be police officers or firefighters etc  .  As for the draft men have nothing to complain about as the US is never drafting people again . In fact most countries don't even have a draft anymore. So it's a non point . Oh and most feminists i know oppose any draft on anyone .

2. As for dangerous job and feminism . Why the hell would feminists want to put women in dangerous jobs ? And once again men not complaining is another symptom of a cultural patriarchy.

So this complaint is absurd .

Quote:You are conflating disadvantage with oppression. They arent the same thing.
They are often the same thing or closely related

Quote:I don't take seriously pretty much anyone living in a Western liberal democracy who cries about being oppressed.
Then that's just more proof of what clueless moron you are

Quote:Has anyone here seen a documentary called The Red Pill?
It's a bullshit propaganda film . meet the scumbags they try and paint in a sympathetic light .

The vast majority of the red pillers like Paul Elms and his cronies from AVFM  are profitists assholes who don't give two shits about men's rights. And only exist to bash feminists to keep men angry so they will continue to profit off them . You want a group who actually addresses men's issues without hoob nobbing with the extreme right and the detestable minnions of manosphere . Try these guys .

And don't even get me started about the director of Red Pill fawning over White Nationalist shit stain and rape apologist Matt Forney

lol, you live in Texas and you don't hear about self-reliance? Get out a little more and talk to the locals, you'll definitely hear this message all over.

For the record, we don’t have to play good cop, bad cop. Not only am I not in any position of authority, I’m IRL quite a lot more abrasive than Tibs. That you stupid assholes even have to stretch to define his meanness as that one time he called the raging cuntosaurus rex a dipshit after she said people who call themselves egalitarian dipshits is proof positive you whiny little shits just want a reason to be mad at him because either A. you dislike him by association to me or B. You mistakenly see him as some incarnation of “the man” and can’t help but rail against the “system” at any given chance. Boofuckinghoo. It’s always the same turd burglars in these things (myself included, I suppose). Circle jerks for everyone. Merry Christmas, assholes. Smile

This bitch is mad an' shit, y'all.

By the way, that "IRL" was entirely unnecessary. Your abrasiveness follows you around like a black cat dragging around its own bad luck. The perverse pride you take in it ... well, that's a project for you, I guess. Pack a lunch, though.

Don't worry about it. I am used to being told the same thing when I do gigantic rants with a completely straight face lol.

And you didn't even do THAT! Big Grin

I live in a tiny border town called Del Rio. All the locals are Mexican American, so it's not really Texan culture.

In a relative way, sure. You don't usually stoop to that level. I don't judge you by the behavior of others. I judge you, and everyone, by their own track record of behavior, measured against their own baseline. In your case, that was an unusual response, so yeah, you appeared to lose your cool. I can only go by your words and patterns. Perhaps I need to recalibrate, then?

I'm probably somewhere in between Thena's and Tib's side of the argument.

I think Tibs has only been decent and hasn't lost his cool, and I don't think he's anything like an alt-right sympatheizer and I find that idea rather hilarious too, but at the same time I'm very pro feminism and think suggesting egalatarianism as an alternative is rather like suggesting All Lives Matter as an alternative to Black Lives Matter Dunno

Also I really wish someday someone would actually read up on the NTS fallacy properly Tongue

Not just looking at you there CL! MOST people seem to think saying "No True X" is a fallacy. LOL.

I think those people need to understand what a logical fallacy is first lol.

The NTS fallacy is a subset of the equivocation fallacy. In the original example someone gets angry at a criminal and says that "No Scotsman would ever do such a thing" and upon finding out it *is* a Scotsman who commit the crime they THEN say "Well, no TRUE Scotsman would ever do such a thing" . . . it's a fallacy because it's equvocarting the new definition, a 'true Scotsman' with the original definition of a Scotsman, and it's ignoring the counterexample that the Scotsman actually DID commit the crime without explaining how the new definition changed anything.

If after discovering that a criminal had commit a crime the guy had said right away "No True Scotsman would ever do such a thing", skipping the equivocation, then that would not be the fallacy it would just be a really stupid definition.
