Normally, I'd be okay with that as long as the person shooting me doesn't miss. But you know... I have responsibilities and kids so shooting me will have to wait.

Defeats the purpose. Most people could use a lot less calories than they currently get. (Flips off the guy in the mirror giggling and pointing at me.)

Nor will they pay for supplements or vitamins or other OTC things. They won't pay for a gym membership, which I currently have. What my insurance will pay for is surgery that I qualify for since my BMI is over 35, which puts me in the morbidly obese category. It's not a matter of being thin or wanting to be thin. I have other health conditions that will cause my death if I do not do something soon. So, for me, it is about my health.

A lot of my weight has come about through stress, shitty sleeping and leading a sedentary lifestyle. As I said earlier, I'm not a big junk food or sugar fan. I more or less gravitate towards fruits and veggies.

Ugh, insurance is the worst. "We'd rather pay thousands of dollars for an invasive surgery and follow-up care than hundreds of dollars for preventative measures." I deal with the same shit re: Cytra-K for my kidney stones.

Unfortunately, bariatric surgery is outside of my experience, so all I can really do is wish you good luck. Smile

RE: Bariatric surgery
My aunt got the surgery and it really is life changing. She was so big she didn't leave her house and she smoked as well. I don't know all the info about it other than you have to keep up with the diet and exercise after or the whole thing could be for nothing. She keeps up with it and it's been over a decade and she looks great. If your doctor recommended it I assume all other options have been exhausted and you should just read up on it as much as possible.

Thank you for all the input. Like I said, my first seminar/class isn't until January 12 and it will most likely be months until I can actually get the surgery. I'm willing to bet they are going to want me to keep a food journal and get a bunch of other tests done to really make sure I'm a good candidate for surgery.

You more like want to make sure what you're eating is nutritious. I mean, you could get surgery and eat candy and cake after but you won't be getting proper nutrition and could develop deficiencies.

Why not just try to stick to such a diet and exercise without the surgery?
If you can't before the surgery, how would you after?
