Best part of atheism for you

In a white room, with black curtains, as the station...
If you get to thinking you’re a person of some influence, try ordering somebody else’s dog around.

Best part for me was finally realizing, after many years and many failed attempts, that I didn't need to force myself to cultivate religious faith but could just be myself.

This is a big one. I faked being Catholic for most of my adolescence, then shifted over to a more generalized “I love everyone, man” pseudo-theism, before finally admitting to myself that I never actually believed in any of it, and was just trying to fit in while also trying to figure out why so many people put so much effort into it.

It’s funny how being honest with oneself leads to actual happiness, isn’t it? I still don’t get theistic faith. I doubt I ever will. Might as well tell me the sky is made of cottage cheese for all the sense it makes to me.

Getting to tell religious people that I'm an Atheist when they start talking about their religion.

Really I'm not an Atheist because I think it benefits my life. I'm one because its the truth.

That's essentially why I kept trying:  All these people I knew had their respective faith communities, and I wanted to see if there was a place for me.  It was only when I started commenting on forums like AF that I began to feel a genuine sense of belonging.

I agree with both of you, I saw it too on my way out of faith. Everyone believes that the person next to them has grasped the reality of faith where you are struggling, but I came to realise almost everyone is struggling with the reality of their god.

Some are just much better than others of making themselves believe or being able to resolve the unresolvable.
I'm thankful that in the end I sucked at it !

OP: Not having to participate in the mindless, mind numbing ritual and verbal blather. And never again having to eat those fucking crackers that turn into glue and stick relentlessly to the roof of your mouth.
I don't have an anger problem, I have an idiot problem.
