According to my poll 88% of Norwegians do not remember.

I don't profess to be an expert on Norwegian greatness, but a cursory web search provides at least a partial answer:  immigrants.

There are certainly plenty of other reasons to deem Norway great though.

Here's but one more of them: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-39325206

Natural selection ??

An unearned wind fall in the form of enormous reserves oil and natural under the part of the North Sea that happen to be inside Norway’s exclusive economic zone?   An unearned wind fall in the form of more hydroelectric energy than a sparsely populated nation of 5.2 million could ever use?

True, some other countries would have squandered any unearned natural resource windfall, or let a few wealthy tycoons pocket the profits. Norway did much better and made sure the entire citizenry partook in the fruit of the windfall.  But the fact remains Norway owes its present prosperity to a large degree to these unearned natural resource windfalls.  Prior to the discovery of oil and gas, Norway made only a middling living, but even the it was dependent upon natural resource Exploitation in the form of whaling and exporting hydroleelctric energy.

I would say that oil production has a lot to do with their wealth and their ability to sustain a generous welfare state.

Nationalization of oil production?

Oil. Americans helped us find oil. Economy got better due to that in terms of economics, and once it stabilized it turned into a welfare state and probably more work and schools i think. If you have good economy and good schools, then you can get welfare if that is what you wish for. I dont like Bernie Sanders much since he is unrealistic considering you need the first one, santa claus is good but you need the first to stabilize if you ever plan on doing something like it to be implemented into a system. The problem is democrats and republicans just wanna sabotage over what media and sensationalism is about instead of picking a person right for the job who they truly believe can bring better economy and better schools in the future. If you dont get the first one then forget about being welfare state, then its just gonna bankrupt a country.

I mean i live here but i dont claim to be an expert on everything. I do agree with some stuff Trump says but not everything, just due to the fact that he atleast is a more down to earth person rather than most politicians over there. So its easier to relate to him even if he comes off as controversial.

Like i for example agree with him on taking terrorism more seriously or being against illegal criminals, compared to legals who are harmless, since it just destroys a nation in general if that is gonna let pass. And to focus on bringing the economy back... though methods on the other hand i am not sure about. And i think he has some views like stereotyping communism too much as socialist. I mean i dont like it too that Norway in US media is described as socialist. It isnt. Its capitalist with humanitarian aid since you need money value in order to set in welfare system to begin with. Just because our country has been run by socialists for 4 years or so doesnt make it socialist. That is what TYT trolls would say but is untrue.
