"You obviously don't care about the names of the sons, not even slaves are treated that bad, are you some kind of despot who hates men and just wants to prey on women? You don't even care about the names of the men, but you want the women all lined up for you, what a sick pest you are, what a criminal mind."

You put that in quotes, who are you quoting?

The quotation is the thought patterns of those who hate God and want to trash whatever they can get their hands on.

you are not God.
Your claimed god is, though and he gave not a flying f**k about Job's family. Jumping through hoops about what they might or might not have done in the future simply leads down a sinister path where we should kill our children so that they go directly to heaven, do not pass hell, do not collect 200 sins.

Hyperbole? Nope. christians have actually done this for those exact reasons.

You can't be talking about the the book of Job, unless you are trying to advertise that you don't have an education.

I make nothing of that. I'll be remembered for a few years by a few people, that's about it. Oblivion would be my preferred option over a pointless eternal existence, a nice long non existence is just what I need after the busy life I've had, I'll be disappointed if there turns out to be anything else.

That's just so neat, it's just a pity you won't be there to reflect on it.

On your avatar you have "unsaved" written.

What does it mean to be saved - isn't it premature for anyone to claim that they are 'saved.' ?

You'd have to wait for heaven to find that one out wouldn't you?

And by the same, you wouldn't know if you are unsaved before that, would you?

Also, it makes literally no difference whether you are good with it or not. You're still just as dead. I'd personally love to live forever, but that doesn't mean I'm going to. It's actually a highly childish notion to think that pretending there's an afterlife somehow makes you immortal.

You don't know what would have happened to Job's daughters and sons, had they not died instantly in that tornado. You don't know what the surrounding pagan nations were doing at the time and what they had already planned to do to Job, which is evident in the power that they exercised over Job's cattle.
You haven't considered the wide impact that the demise of Job had at the time, what a flood of evil it stemmed, and you seem to have no idea of what the great controversy between good and evil entailed at the time, and for all time.

And you don't know what life is, how it is given and how it can be given again, regardless of the passing of time or events.
And you have no idea of what this life is worth in comparison to eternal life and power, and you have no idea of the nature of the new world or heaven, or the state of living.
You have no idea of what life was like for Adam and Eve before they sinned.
And you have no idea of what Job's family suffered, and what suffering they did not have, instead you have chosen to represent God in the worst possible light, according to your ignorance of everything.

That's not a fair judgement.

Couldn't god have prevented whatever calamities that would have befallen them rather than executing a mercy killing? That seems like a better option.

Yes, it is highly childish to think that you'll live forever. That's why Jesus said heaven is for people with a child like trust.

People forget what's it like to live without a care.
I have, it's called being an adult. So I don't wait for that chilled out feeling, I just believe.
I can't accept that people are born to perish.

I attended an accident scene where someone escaped death, though they didn't know it at the time.
They were a natural pain to live with - image oriented, competitive and ambitious, but suddenly vulnerable and coming into consciousness as a child does.
I saw a face of love and innocence, I was really taken back and reminded what God sees under all the masks.

Yes, to the best of our limited knowledge we presume that God does NOT take the better option.
That's living in doubt or skepticism, which is our way of protecting ourselves from deception and disappointment.
It saves us in many situations, and we live with worry as well.
This is our lot on earth, but not forever.

There's a difference between being childish and being child-like.

It's amazing the way atheists feel compelled to piss on it.

I wasn't an atheist when I read that story, but it had a lot to do with me becoming an agnostic theist after I finished the Bible for the 2nd time. The part that really appalled me was when God replaced Job's children and that made killing the first batch okay, like the deaths of his previous family was no more significant than losing cattle. At least his new daughters were prettier, I'm sure that made it easier to marry them off advantageously. Win!
I'm not anti-Christian. I'm anti-stupid.
