CNN: No one cares about Russia

I have CNN on quite frequently and unlike fake fox news, every day they have speakers on that represent all sides of the issues they are reporting.

I keep forgetting how a few AF members have the inside track on what Mueller does or doesn't know.  

The longer this drags on without anything serious coming out, the more reasonable it is to conclude there's nothing there.

There have been 4 federal indictments so far.

What exactly do you count as "serious"?

Also it's like people don't understand how investigations work. They aren't public. Mueller doesn't get up on a podium at the end of each day and say "well we've found x and y, now we're looking at z". Nobody but Mueller and his team knows what they know. Nobody can say that they haven't found anything yet, so it's reasonable to conclude there's nothing there, because nobody knows what they have actually found!

Sorry if you expected a torrential downpour of leaks, but the Mueller investigation seems pretty waterproof in that regard. We've heard very little so far apart from the indictments and who he has / hasn't interviewed.

Indictments worth remembering. Like on Trump or his family, and for actual collusion with Russia. If they were serious and on point, you probably would have given details, instead of just giving a number.

Haters gonna hate and make up excuses and say that this isn't a serious investigation. Funny how the lives of 4 men and their families have already been affected by their admittance of guilt and/or their arrests. Remember - not all have admitted guilt. But they were all arrested.

If the CNN type media reported on it, rather than tried to shape stories that implied things democrats wanted to hear, I think people would be less resistant to it.  Unfortunately, that's not how for profit news rolls.  Who wants to read about 'inconsequential attempts to change a few voters minds' when you can read "AMERICAN ELECTION UNDER SIEGE BY RUSSIAN INFLUENCERS!!"

But what we seem to have that's tangible is Russia posted a bunch of fake shit on Facebook and Twitter.  So for a year, people have been hearing "OUR DEMOCRACY IS UNDER ATTACK!  WHO KNEW WHAT!?!?!?!?"  And what we've seen is a picture of Jesus arm wrestling the Devil in a Facebook Meme.  It's hard to reconcile the two things.

If you don't connect the hysteria of the initial claim with something more significant, people are going to lose faith in the people acting hysterical.

If you think that all Russia did was post a bunch of "fake shit on Facebook and Twitter" you need to go brush up on what the investigation is actually about.

The DNC got hacked, the RNC likely got hacked. Emails got leaked, there were meetings between Russians and the Trump campaign. Trump might have more business ties to Russia than he admits to. Several members of the Trump campaign have been accused of being foreign agents working for Russian interests. There's a lot of stuff being investigated.

Oh yeah, the email hacks.  That was a big one.  But the way the emails affected our elections was by exposing that the DNC was undermining our democracy.  Is our democracy more democratic if the fact the DNC was undermining our democracy was kept secret?  Maybe Russia was making our democracy better, and we should be thanking them?

I make the jokes, but I assume we interfere in every russian election, and that russia interferes in every American election.  And you can toss China into that meddling as well.  That's just how the world works.
