A top CNN reporter admitted on Sunday that American’s do not care about the left-leaning network’s seemingly 24/7 negative coverage of the Trump-Russia investigation.

The surprising confession on CNN’s “Inside Politics” was made by CNN national political reporter Maeve Reston who said that voters do not care about the investigation because it does not really affect them and the one issue that voters do care about — the economy — is strong.

“You are starting to see that uneasiness about the economy sort of dissipate,” Reston said. “Remember, even in 2016 when we went out to these swing states and talked to voters, there was still this fear that things were suddenly going to turn down again. You don’t feel that as much anymore.”

“I’m so interested to see how the Russia investigation affects things because so far, out in these districts when you talk to people about Russia, and that’s all we talk about at CNN basically, they say they don’t care,” Reston continued. “It doesn’t have any effect on their lives.”

1. Amusing to see CNN described as left-leaning. It always struck me as Neo-Liberal (Clinton News Network) which to a Brit equals Conservative.

2. I see the stock market doing well (carry an umbrella because that soapy bubble's gonna burst soon) but the economy is weak. What evidence is there that USians believe that it's strong?

3. The Russia stuff is just gossip-fodder, no substance. Kinda like a Washington DC TV Quik (DC Comic? ). There's never been any evidence of collusion or the Russian state hacking anything and lots of evidence that it was a Democratic invention to deflect from their failure.

So your point is that a significant number of people don't give a shit about demonstrated foreign meddling in our election process, likely cooperation and coordination between one campaign and that foreign government, and the fact that millions bought into that government's efforts to divide the public on social media over red meat issues because it's not a bread-and-butter issue that directly affects them?

CNN is right to focus on this reporting, but I do agree that the breathless 24/7 nature of their coverage is not necessarily productive. I'd settle for 12/7 coverage if that meant they did a better job of reporting the rest of the world's major news the other twelve hours per day. Their myopia does get a bit draining.
