Let's put the question of Iran aside for a second. Do you guys know the definition of a dictator? I can't figure out if Trump is a do nothing president who can't get his agenda done, or a dictator who is ruling with an iron fist by reading this forum. I'd like to know.

He is a manipulative opportunist born with a silver spoon in his mouth and use to getting whatever he wants.  He feels no loyalty whatsoever to any person, creed, ideology, or outlook.  He knows absolutely nothing about the history, tradition, bylaws, science, economics, finance, the structure of the government, and the checks and balancing that allows it to survive in recognizable form and continue to operate, and he cares much much less than even that about these foundations of the office he sits in.

At the same time the governing party sees this not as a mortal danger to the republic, but as a once-in-the-history-of-a-nation opportunity to push through an agenda aimed to enrich a few who, through their wealth, could mostly escape the consequences of the collapse of the republic or destruction of long term basis of social and economic cohesion.   The opportunist, being born with the silver spoon in his mouth, can be counted on to help in this, the only thing that matters to the forces that fund and truly animate the GOP.   The fat cats who will fiddle in their palace while Rome burns cares only about their palace, which trump will certainly protect and make more grand at the expense of the hoi palloi. So that fact that the opportunist can’t be counted on for anything else is a matter of supreme irrelevance to the GOP or the forces that animate that disgraceful organization.

The opportunist does not perceive himself to be a dictator because to him, who has always always been catered to, sucked up to, and humored throughout his life on account of his wealth and manipulative personality, there can be no legitimate fundamental disagreement with his whims. Only those who support his whim of the day can be considered real people during that day.   So his whim of the moment is by his definition the will of the people.  Therefore his whim in his opinion must trumps tradition, regulation, facts, science, economics, scholarship, political principle, and independence of those institutions whose roles it were to be independent of his interests and be check on the powers of those such as him.

So you tell me whether he is a dictator or not, and whether the republic is in danger from him or not.

He is a dick who recognize no decorum he should observe, and no limit to his power. His party does not believe there is any line he should not cross so long as he serves the private interests of the party’s fat cat doners.

Whether he is a dictator now is immaterial. His excesses and the nullistic conduct of his party in the face of hismexcesses is laying the groundwork and setting the precedent for the coming of dictatorship.
