Who moved or stayed?
#21
RE: Who moved or stayed?
Moved around 10 times in my life (starting after high school) but haven't moved in last 20+ years and don't intend to ever move again.

I really hate moving.

It sucks.

Which suburb?  I was in Naperville.

I'm a bit farther out--Sycamore.

Just like the yokels who knew so little of the world that they could come up with Christianity.  Explains a lot.

I grew up on the east coast, moved to the Midwest, moved to the south, moved back to the Midwest, moved to the west coast, moved back to the east coast, now I am back on the west coast.

I'm a full time nomad who lives in an RV. I don't really live anywhere. I don't understand people who stay where they were born. What are the chances you were born luckily in the perfect place for you?

RE: Who moved or stayed?
So far: stayed.

I'm not The wandering type. I love antwerp and i love The familiarity. I love The 'gezelligheid' of letting that one great city become your trustees environment and letting your own 'home' grow; knowing where to get a good beer or The best fries or The best sushi, or...

I even like going on vacation, but don't need it at all. I could just as Well spend a week loafing around at home in my underwear watching rvb, hanging out with friends and eating junkfood as i could spend it hiking or lying on a beach in Spain. And to me, The best thing a out a holiday is always coming back.

That being said. If i'd been offered a job in Some big city in america eight years ago, or would have had Some opportunity to go, i would have.

RE: Who moved or stayed?
My birth certificate says I was born in Tennessee...which is debatable, lol.  Moved to Indiana.  Then California.  Then SW Fl.  Then NC FL.  Then Georgia. Then overseas for a bit (Germany, The Med, Balkans, Middle East).  Then Massachusetts.  Then The Keys.  Then Central KY.  Then Ohio.  Then Alabama.  Back to SW FL.  Then Up to Eastern KY.

Considering a move to either Montana or Oregon next.  We're locked in for now, though, with four kids in school (with the exception of my little Cracker Mo they were all born 30 mins from where we live now) and a business I can't really move on a whim.  I won't die here, in this place.  I just need to be able to build enough equity to leverage it for a legitimately commercial scale enterprise next go round.  Dolla dolla bills..amiright?  Been chasin em for a long time.

My favorites so far, in order, have been The Keys and NC FL (Go Gators!), The Balkans, Massachusetts, and Central KY. Eastern Kentucky hasn't really grown on me yet. I'm sure it'll get added to the list as soon as I leave, though.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

I've lived in nine states, been to all but 7 of them, as well as visiting four other countries. I'm finally home and can't see myself willingly leaving Colorado. It's as close to heaven as I'll ever get.

RE: Who moved or stayed?
I was born in Baltimore, Maryland. My egg donor had this insatiable need to relocate every two years or so. Spent kindergarten in Baltimore City. First and second grade, I was in Reisterstown, MD, third grade I was in Lutherville, MD, Fourth, fifth and sixth grade my egg donor decided I should be in Catholic school and so we were in Towson, MD. Seventh grade, I was in Loch Raven, MD. Eighth grade and nearly all of high school, I was in Parkville, MD. Most of my life revolved around Baltimore County, MD. I was 26 when I moved my oldest daughter, then 16 months old to Pennsylvania. We have lived up here ever since, staying primarily in the central York county area.

I'd love to leave this state, but I worked hard to make sure my children didn't have my wretched childhood and as a result, they were able to have their entire educational careers in one school district. My oldest graduated in 2016. The next ones graduate in 2020, 2021 and 2022. All from the same high school except for T. He went to the Vo-tech and will graduate from there.

Once K is graduated and out of the house, I have plans to transfer my cosmetology license to the state of Georgia and move there. I'm tired of snow and cold weather. If I could swing it, I'd transfer my license to the Bahamas because that's where I'd really like to be instead. Who knows? My younger three all are going into careers that will allow them to have a very comfortable life. They might be nice enough to buy me a house in the islands where I can retire a happy person.
