First off, they won't get there in time. Second, if you have a gun in your home the chances are that it will kill a resident, not an intruder. If an intruder does break into your home they're ready for a fight. You're not. You're in bed asleep. They shoot you as you wake up, not as you search around for your gun. 

And that's the point where you find out exactly how useful prayer really is.

The news is loaded with stories about people shooting burglars at all hours of the day.

I LOVE this one. The others resemble some kind of argument, but this one, this gem is completely fabricated.  What exactly is a "huge correlation" ?   Kinda funny.

Correlation often doesn't nean shit. In my dtatietics course in college (nearly 20 years ago now so I don't have exact details), the annual variation in the UK unemployment rate almost perfectly correlated with the variation in rainfall at Hyde Park for years. No causation factors, so tue stat was meaningless.

Guns do kill people though....

Pencils don't misspell words... but having something to write with certainly helps you write something incorrectly.

It's possible to murder people with a knife. But a gun certainly helps.

I really think the whole "Guns don't kill people, people kill people" thing is absurd when it's acted like guns have nothing to do with it.

Harder to kill people without a weapon. And a small kid is less likely to pick up a gun and shoot themselves by accident if the gun isn't there.

Glass can kill people, and water can kill people. But I doubt it's as much problem if an adult leaves a glass of water lying around in front of a small toddler than if they leave a handgun lying around in front of a small toddler.

So, I'm starting this off with the stupid stuff I've seen posted on Facebook about mass shootings. However, I'm sure this thread will evolve, so let's just call it a thread about stupid shit you've seen on facebook. Now, please don't post identifying information about the people who posted this stuff, including names. We wouldn't want someone starting shit somewhere else. Moreover, I was hoping for the tone to be sort of funny and relaxed, not witch hunty.

Either the guns are left where anyone can grab them... which isn't safe. Or they're locked up somewhere safe. Which isn't safe.

The intruder gets indoors, and it's like "Hang on a second Mr Axe-Wielding Maniac... hold with the choppy choppy for one second while I just unlock my gun from my gun cabinet."
