Jesus' death is remembered 2 days earlier on Good Friday, and it certainly is not a "celebration." It's a somber day where we are supposed to go to church, not eat meat, not party, and just have a quiet day remembering what Jesus went through.

Once again, Christians are preparing to celebrate the torture and murder of Jesus and thank him for submitting to this blood sacrifice. I, for one, find this event and its religious meaning heinous in its entirety.

As CL said we do not celebrate the crucifixion of Jesus, Good Friday is a day of remembrance of what Jesus did for us.

The idea that a father would torture and murder his own son because the neighbors kids misbehaved is deplorable.

That would be deplorable, however that is not what happened. You must first understand who God is to understand the whole truth of the crucifixion. God the father, God the Son and the Holy Spirit are all God. The relationship between God the Father and God the Son isn't like an earthly father and son. The earthly pair were created and the heavenly pair have always existed, they were not created. In the earthly pair the father existed before the son and the son only exists because of the father. In the heavenly pair they both have existed together from eternity past, by necessity that means one did not come before the other nor did one create the other. God the Son desired to be the sacrifice to end all sacrifice for mankind, God the Father did not make nor choose Him to do so. God (as in the Holy Trinity) did not like the blood sacrifice, but because man brought death into the world through sin it became a necessity. Do you even know what the first sacrifice was? Man is the cause of those sacrifices, and at the proper time God the Son came to live as a man and give that perfect life as a sacrifice for all mankind and to end the practice of animal blood sacrifice.

The idea that someone who has committed a crime against me is now forgiven by a third party. I am a forgiving, easy going person and I reserve that right to myself. To hell what some mythical scapegoat has to say about it.

You are right you need no third party for you to forgive someone who offended you. Even though many people have needed a third party to help them see they need to come to an understanding and forgive the offender. God doesn't have nor require a third party for Him to forgive someone who has sinned (offended) against Him, as I explained above God though being three persons is still one God and Jesus doesn't have to ask the Father to forgive someone, each individual has to do that for themselves, no one can do that for another person. With a person's acceptance of Jesus and what He did for mankind (salvation) comes the right to have access to the Father to ask for forgiveness and be forgiven.

Believing that a murder victim rose from the dead asks of me to be a gullible fool. Believing he flew up into the clouds is silly.

You may think it is silly and actually the Bible teaches that many will see it that way, however it is the truth and the only way to keep yourself from an eternal punishment. Paul says if there was no resurrection then Christian are the biggest fools of all and I can tell you I do not feel like a fool nor do I believe I'm a fool and that's because I know that the God of the Bible is real and accept what He has done for me.

Then, the closing act of the Christian narrative will have this celestial zombie returning with a vengeance. All of the hard earned accomplishments of humanity destroyed. All suffering death except "true" Christians. Then the establishment of a necrocracy. One in which the only requirement of what is left of humanity will be to worship their king without ceasing. This is the apocalypse story I grew up with. Silly predictions about getting microchip implants or tattoos with the number 666. Silly tales like the "Left Behind" book series.

You really like the word zombie don't you, then you should come to understand what it means and that it only applies to the dead in a mythical way. Jesus is alive and well setting on His throne, a throne that gives Him power over every living creature.  I see you have no understanding of the second coming of Christ, if you understood you might ... no you can't understand because you reject the living God. However to simplify it for you it is to put an end to all evil. Apparently you have no idea what a necrocracy is, God is not dead, the Father, Son and Holy Spirit are all alive and well. You Christians can celebrate your favorite horror fiction. I, for one, will be celebrating springtime this April Fools Day. Blooming trees, songbirds making chicks, Irises.

  The foolish as God says are those who reject Jesus. I will be celebrating what Jesus did for me as I should do every day but I like most allow life to get in the way to often. I do not celebrate spring because it is a thing, I do however enjoy it and what it reminds me of, the new life given to me by my belief in Jesus Christ.
