Perhaps.

But I've also heard It said, include by notable Nobel prize winning physicists, that Hawking's actual contribution to advancing the state of physics nowhere near justify his outsized fame as physicist amongst general public, and he would be remembered more as a personality than as a physicist.

No. They didn't give him the noble prize because of this:

Quote:Stephen Hawking's support for the boycott of Israel is a turning point

I was actually surprised that poor Hawking didn't take the "anti-semite" stamp up his wheelchair before dying; too.
Probably his great contributions to physics -which indeed deserved a noble- were the shield he had. Defy Israel; and you won't get the golden toys.

Moreover:

https://www.theguardian.com/science/poli...el-science

Quote:Stephen Hawking's decision to boycott the Israeli president's conference has gone viral. Over 100,000 Facebook shares of the Guardian report at last count. Whatever the subsequent fuss, Hawking's letter is unequivocal. His refusal was made because of requests from Palestinian academics.

No. It's the charge "Anti-Semite", that was stamped with heated iron on the butt of every criticizer of Israel.
Let's hear John Stewart's opinion:

Get over the religion complex. The winners in WW2 are biased towards Israel because it's their bunker in the Middle East. They created it. They play the religion card to defend it; and criticizing it leads to you losing a lot.

Jews are not the pawns. Zionists are, from Trump to Netanyahu to the Sauds.

So not using it to disrespect the late Rev. Graham then. Or politicizing it to make claims that one cannot support and to attack Christians.

Professor Hawking was a very intelligent man. It was amazing what he did, and what he worked through in health difficulties and to do the things that he did. In many ways; I think how he handled himself in light of what the disease took from him; is more impressive than the his other work.

Sometimes it is just better to "turn the check". In any case, Professor Hawking was an atheist:

Philosophy was never his strong suit.

Cosmology is just as important for attaining truths about the world as metaphysics itself. And the majority of academic philosophers are atheists anyway.

I didn’t say anything about cosmology.

Also....your not suppose to divert the topic form Hawkings apparently.

A great quote from the great man.
Quote:“Remember to look up at the stars and not down at your feet. Try to make sense of what you see and wonder about what makes the universe exist~"

I did that Mr Hawking and I sprained my ankle on the gutter! Thanks!

Are they making a claim about something? Or just giving their opinion? If the first, then the questions is why. If the second, then the question is why is this relevant.
