Well, okay.
You mean it would be if it actually worked.

Really? So when someone wants to know what career path they should choose, they can pray to your deity and he will answer them? If someone wants to to know if they should open a business, they can pray to your deity and he'll let them know? If someone needs advice on how to invest their money, your deity will help out?
If this is true, then everyone should have a successful career, businesses should never fail and no one should ever go bankrupt.

I almost posted Carrie Underwood's "Jesus Take the Wheel" but even clicking the YouTube link made me want to commit suicide. So just imagine a flippant music posting here in response to the steering wheel comment.

That's using prayer as a "spare tire", you are looking at prayer the wrong way.
God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.

Ah.........
Matt 7
Quote:7 “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.
9 “Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? 11 If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him! 12 So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.
So god is full of shit, huh? He'd be real happy with you if he existed.

How is this a "spare tire"? I'm not talking about praying when you're in trouble. I'm talking about praying looking for guidance! You said it yourself: "it is a "steering wheel" that directs us in the right path through out life". So why wouldn't your deity direct someone on the right path when they ask for help in choosing a career path, or guidance when investing their money?

You know, that sounded a little too pat for G-C ( who usually is not that eloquent) so I went googling around and found this pile of manure.

@Min which is right after stop being hypocrites and don't waste what's sacred on swine. you can pretty much pick and choose your wayto any belief you want, but a whole Bible approach is what I believe GC was getting to. Sure you should ask and fully expect to receive, but only if you're living you life as God intended and that would include the Christian virtue of humility. It wouldn't be in line with biblical teachings to go around praying for winning the lottery unless you take this verse by it's lonesome.
"There ought to be a term that would designate those who actually follow the teachings of Jesus, since the word 'Christian' has been largely divorced from those teachings, and so polluted by fundamentalists that it has come to connote their polar opposite: intolerance, vindictive hatred, and bigotry." -- Philip Stater, Huffington Post
