It depends on the quality of water. I store my tap water in a bucket for a night, so that all rubbish particles like rust(I have soviet infrastructure in my area) are at the bottom of the bucket. Jesus, man.......get a filter before you die. If you've got metal flaking into your water that leaves a sedimentary layer on a bucket sump......you shouldn't be drinking it at all. That is not potable water, letting it sit in a bucket doesn't make it potable water. Screwing with it's ph doesn't make it potable water. You're drinking liquid pipe.

If you are worried about contaminants in water then the best thing to do is to buy a water distiller for less than $100.

I got one and does really well.
All the muck is left on the distiller while the pure water is collected in the bottle.
You will be surprised to see how much filth there is in the tap water.

However my opinion about water fast is that that should only last a short period no more that few days.
Over long time may harm you badly.
I fast every two week and that is a full fast going from evening to all the next day until the next morning and follow the moon periods.  Levitate

You still need a gac filter even if you have a distiller...and remember to use the filter first...then the distiller. The process would be your current sump bucket (since you have turbid water and gacs are shit at turbidity). Then the gac filter, then the distiller.
Then you can play with the ph if you want.

(pm me if you want some resources on how to build this shit....in case you don't have the option of a purchase)
