Poor G-C.  His useless KJV trips him up again.  Piss-poor translation, G-C.  Nothing more.  You should get with the program, son.

Quote:Does the word "hell" appear anywhere in the Hebrew Bible (i.e. the Old Testament)? I think the answer is a clear an resounding "No!" While the word "hell" does appear in the King James Version (KJV), that version was produced by translators who didn't have access to the earliest and best original Greek manuscripts. As the Preface to the Revised Standard Version (RSV) pointed out: "the King James Version has grave defects. By the middle of the nineteenth century, the development of Biblical studies and the discovery of many manuscripts more ancient than those upon which the King James Version was based, made it manifest that these defects are so many and so serious as to call for revision of the English translation."

It just goes to show that GC is an irresponsible twat who only claims to know the bible, but is actually just repeating apologists' propaganda. Shame on you, GC.

One might wonder why in this internet age the apologetics are not WAY better.

Excepting the Mormons, of course, they are FUCKED in this regard. In house organ publishing everything necessary to multiply disprove your own religion was REALLY stupid. Sorry for being harsh, but seriously, once you publish something, you gotta expect SOMEBODY SOMEWHERE to keep a copy. And then you change something and you get CAUGHT.
The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.

I double checked a couple of the references that Burch cited and he's right.  "Hell" is not an OT concept.  At best its a thinly veiled judaic reference to the Greek Hades which was simply a place of the dead where spirits sat around jerking off.

Lucky for G-C he gets to sit around and jerk off with his bible.

Actually doctrine of hellfire with its inhabitants being tormented eternally started with Jesus in the New Testament to punish those that haven't believed in "the name of Jesus"

Nope!

These days a week of Keflex is all it takes. God did not know that in  B.C. but we can forgive the learning curve!
God thinks it's fun to confuse primates. Larsen's God!

Hell is the eternal punishment, trying to divert attention away from an eternal punishment because of a name that people disagree with is petty and dishonest at best.
Matthew 24:51 .... and will cut him to pieces and put him with the hypocrites. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
Matthew 25:30 .... And cast the worthless servant into the outer darkness. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
Matthew 25:41 .... Then He will say to those on His left, 'Depart from Me, you cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.
Matthew 25:46 .... And these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.
Matthew 23:33 .... You serpents, you brood of vipers, how are you to escape being sentenced to hell?
The red is from Jesus.
Give eternal punishment whatever name you wish it is real and those who reject Jesus will find the truth there.
