Yawn. People who live life avoiding regrets in every damn thing just in case seem insipid, IMO. I’m not talking about different tastes here, I’m talking about people who’s reason for their dislike of tattoos is simply, “I’ll regret it when I’m old and so will you, dummy!” I prefer to do what I want if it doesn’t hurt anyone and it won’t affect my goals in life, because my death bed will be a place of fantastic stories to tell of a full life instead of, “Look at everything I avoided, so I could die with no regrets.” I rather deal with bruises and stories to tell my grandchildren than sit around being snooty and dull.
Look, kids! This tatt... got it when I was young. Let me tell you that story.
Matter o’ fact, I want another one. Viva le tatts!

Felicity Kendall waited until she was 63 to get a tattoo. The reason she gave was that, by 63, you're pretty sure which bits aren't going to wrinkle or sag enough to distort the artwork.

I should get a grape tattoo in a wrinkle prone area of my body and let life slowly turn it into a raisin.

I’m not talking about different tastes here, I’m talking about people who’s reason for their dislike of tattoos is simply, “I’ll regret it when I’m old and so will you, dummy!” Well first of all, you're using quite a few words here that I did not. As long as you agree that the inferences you're making in the above statement are yours and not mine, I'm fine with it. If that's not the case then you're claiming i said things that I did not say and I did not say them for a reason.
Just like everyone else, I've made lots of decisions that I've come to regret. Some of them were big, life changing decisions. That is the risk one must agree to take in order to avoid a life that is, as you so eloquently put it, snooty and dull.
The thing is, we're not talking about robbing a liquor store with a clam rake or becoming the guitar player for Nickelback here. We're talking about body mutilation. Its one thing to choose to avoid any endeavor that you might regret later on. It is something else entirely to avoid an endeavor that you might regret and will then have to look at every day for the rest of your life. Just because you're comfortable assuming that risk, doesn't mean everyone else should be too. And it also doesn't mean anyone who isn't must therefore live a life that is snooty and dull.

I feel the exact same way. The thing is, I've never had life goals that weren't subject to change and I've never been any good at predicting what those changes will turn out to be.
The founder of my company is someone I respect and admire. He is a very successful and well respected business man. And it was not until I given the task of sorting through a collection of historic company related photos for our website that I realized I've never once seen the man wearing short sleeves. A few pics of him doing paperwork at home with the kids on his lap in the early days revealed that he's got tats on both arms. But I never knew that because he NEVER wears short sleeves in public. I've seen him stop into the building on Saturday when the office is closed and no one was expected to be around. Despite the summer heat, still in long sleeves. Is that because of the tats? Dunno. But I do know that maintaining a professional company image at all times is extremely important to him and I also know that visible tattoos are most definitely not what he would consider to be a professional company image. I'd be surprised if being able to maintain a professional company image at all times was a life goal of his at 20 years old. Just sayin'.

Personally, I don't care too much about what other people think about my appearance either. Then again I don't try make my appearance a stand-out feature. I try to stay well-groomed and dress professionally to match the setting. IMHO people who make the effort to overtly express their individuality by means of their outward appearance shouldn't be too surprised that not everyone shares their opinion about the propriety of such displays.
Holy hell that's tone deaf.

Depends on the tattoo, but for the most part, I find them to be lessening in attractiveness.

I never said that people are not entitled to their opinions. Nor did I say people who think they are hot are wrong. I explicitly said that people who enjoy them should enjoy them. Also I did not say that adults shouldn't get tattoos if they really want too. It's a free country. The OP invites everyone to share their opinion.
The question on the table is whether or not tattoos are hot or unattractive. In my judgement, they are unattractive and implied that IMO visible tattos are unprofessional. That's all I'm saying and yes I do have opinions about people with tattoos that may or may not be justified. But those who say that tattoos are hot are also making a judgement and they also have opinions about the attitudes of those who sport tattoos that may or may not be justified. Everyone who has an opinion, either positive or negative, or depends on the tat are making judgments. A person making a positive judgement is every bit as judgmental as someone making a negative one.
I don't much care for modern art either. And I also believe that people who do appreciate the art not for the art itself but rather only for the narrative context surrounding the art. And I have negative opinions about the suspected motives of many contemporary art scene. Similarly with tattoos I feel that they do not rise to the level of art, as many believe that they do, and that the popularity of a tattoos has more to due with the narratives about them rather than the images themselves. That much is implicit in the question of whether they are "hot" - in at least some instances tattoos seem to signal attitudes about the person's sexual attitudes (hence the pejorative "tramp stamp") and not mere ornamentation.
