My cat is the worst thing ever!
April 21, 2018 at 9:45 pm
The neighborhood cat came over, and my cat just happened to be looking out our wide living room door windows at the time.
She started making these threatening sounds toward this cat who is nothing but friendly.
You have to understand, my cat has never been around other animals, has never had any interaction with any other animals.
This poor cat outside just wants to be friendly and my cat just wants to hiss and make threatening sounds.
Then when I attempt to grab her, she turns around and hisses at me. No, I won't have that. I tell her NO. At least she understands that.
I grabbed her and placed her in the bedroom.
The poor cat outside, though.
It's just so friendly. I peeked out there after I removed my cat, and the cat was still sitting there acting all friendly.
It's a good thing my cat is an indoor cat.

"Sitting there acting all friendly" is a trick.

If it upsets your cat don't do it again.
You know about the reaction so the subsequent out bursts are on you.
Get kitty some treats.

Cats have senses that we don't. So they can know when another cat is outside the house, even if they're not looking out the window at the time. They're also territorial. And finally weirdest of all, they seem to have this thing where they can see/meet another cat and instantly decide if that other cat someone they're going to be friends with, or someone they're going to be arch enemies with.
Back when we lived a neighborhood setting our cats had a cat door and could out whenever they wanted. There were lots of other neighborhood cats around. Some were 'in the tribe' others were most definitely not. If one of the not in the tribe cats came in our yard or even just got near it, there was trouble. Usually a lot of yelling and hissing, less often actual fighting.
Now that we live in the woods, there are fewer other cats around. But there are still few. Once in a while one will show up on the back deck and poof, he's in the tribe. Out guys will go and they'll hang around together no problem. Other times someone will be outside who is definitely not in the club and the yelling and pounding at the windows and sliding doors begins. Always a treat when that happens at 3 am.

We have two cats and we're monumentally unconcerned with them threatening other animals. The male is abso-fucking-lutely bone idle and wouldn't get up from a kip if his tail was on fire. The female is uber-friendly - doesn't even seem to have the predatory instincts of normal cats.

Emergency Auxiliary Backup Cat #2 is very easy going. Primary cat is only concerned with food. Anything new he encounters is immediately evaluated for edibility.
He's already made it clear he would eat EABUC#2 if he could.
The food issue stems from years ago when he got up to 27 pounds. I've subsequently dieted him down to around 13-14. He's never acclimatized to being that size (despite assurances from vet he would) and would definitely like to be a 35-40 cat. At least with the automatic feeder I got him, he's pissed off at that all the time instead of me. It has a clear storage container on top, allowing him to see the food. Yeah, it's cruel, LOL. It weighs heavily on him seeing 5 pounds of kibble all day and then having it metered out 1/4 cup at a time.
And yes, it's filled with diet cat food . . . .
