Important to remember that a basic tenet of law is that she does not have to prove herself innocent, the state must prove her guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.  They failed.

Still.  I agree with Franklin.

I agree with Franklin. With that being said, I watched the whole trial and I have no idea how she wasn't convicted. Especially when I've seen people convicted for far less.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

What do you think of my idea of seizing all his loot and dividing between the victims leaving just enough to stick him in a senior assisted living home from which he is not allowed to  venture?

You didn't ask me but: I think it would be the most morally perfect option available.

I'm guessing that's just a joke, but in case anybody seriously thinks that - I think that kind of thing might undermine public credibility of any victims of rich rapists, who might come out in the future.

An exceedingly "generous" charity donation might be a better option.

Oh that's a good point.

But I like the detainment part at least. Rather than punishing him just lock him up until he dies.

Yes I think the most morally perfect option would be to lock him up, never let him leave and give 100% of his money to charities for victims of sexual abuse.

I think punishing someone who is never going to be able to learn from that punishment and is never going to be freed doesn't make any sense. But locking someone away so they can't harm anyone and giving all their money which they will never need again to charity... that sounds like the perfect choice given the situation.

The level of sadness expressed does not show innocence or guilt . Some legitimately innocent parents can take decades to fully mourn. And some people turn to socialization as a grieving mechanism.

It's one thing to turn to friends for some sort of comfort. It's quite another to act as if your two year old child never existed. When one plasters pictures all over social media depicting a fun and out going "party girl", riddled with several posts of her drinking and smoking and carrying on as if she never had a child, I think people have a right to question that behavior and regard it as not normal. She literally showed ZERO sadness over the loss of her daughter. It was like she was emotionally detached from her kid.

I have seen firsthand, children who's own mother has displayed that sort of emotional detachment from them. It is very easy to see how her attitude, towards two kids who didn't ask to be born, has affected them and it's really heartbreaking. All children ever ask for is to be loved by the people that bring them into the world (or raise them, if adopted). For a mother to simply discard her two year old, like she was trash and not say anything for over a month and then blame it on a "babysitter", speaks mounds about that mother's lack of empathy towards her own baby.

I'm not saying that. I'm saying if she were innocent and  turned to partying as a means of denial. Because accepting the loss is to painful so better to pretend it never happened and act as such .I have dealt with cases like that were the mother is so traumatized they pretend they had no child or try and utterly detach themselves for the event like it was something you heard happen to someone else . This of course does not last. But it can take years and usually it's not pleasant ride when reality comes rushing back. Of course that's just one explanation .

As for parental detachment i deal with it more often professionally then i would like to admit . But i will say this as bad a person as she is and a bad a parent as she is . That does not make her a murderer.

I will point out again i think she's guilty. But her lack of open grieving is not what dooms her .

Oh I don't think so-called "interruptions" on forums are really interruptions.

Oh, I do.  The medical examiner testified that no cause of death could be established and there was no evidence of trauma.  The state over-charged by going for first-degree murder when their own witnesses could not back them up.

Different juries will get you different results.

This jury simply wasn't convinced because:
#1. They felt the motive was weak (I disagree that it was a weak motive.  What kind of mother buries her child in the woods, and then goes out and parties?  I'll tell you what kind of mother: The kind that'd murder her child so she could party)
and
#2. The prosecution could not definitively pinpoint the cause of death.  Which meant it was impossible to rule out 'accidental drowning', even though the normal response to an accidental drowning is to call 911, not put duct tape over the child's mouth and bury them in the woods in a bag.

It probably didn't help that her mother lied on the stand for her, saying she performed the search for Chloroform (you know, while she was at work).
"Tradition" is just a word people use to make themselves feel better about being an asshole.
