porn and women

RE: porn and women
(April 28, 2018 at 1:38 pm)Catholic_Lady Wrote: It's not just about how the women who do porn are treated and whether it is physically and mentally healthy for them.

It's about how it conditions us, as a society, to view women and sex in general. Does it make women more insecure in bed? Insecure about their bodies? Does it cause women to be seen more as objects by other people (including themselves)? Does it make them feel expected to perform a certain way? Does it make men expect more in bed? Does it make men less easily satisfied/aroused by the real women they have sex with? Does it make men more selfish and less loving in bed? Does it negatively effect men's treatment of women in the dating/bedding scene?

...those are all things that will obviously have negative effects on women, if the answers are "yes". That's what I'm curious to know from people here, whether you think any of those answers would be yes.

I can see this having a negative effect on men as well for almost the same reasons.

But if the audience is mainly men, wouldn't they feel more insecure about their size, body, and performance in comparison to a porn star.

Perhaps. Where I was going with that is that since not as many women watch porn as much, perhaps the men don't feel as much like they have to measure up to what the woman is seeing.

But I do agree. I think it effects men negatively as well.

RE: porn and women
Look at this cringingly embarrassing shit. Are men being objectified?

The imagery is blatantly obvious; this is perfume for a 'Man' and will empower you.
Why is the advertising industry a multi billion £market? Because crass people fall for the sales pitch every time.
But unlike porn imagery which (mostly) evaporates when the wanker decides he/she is bored and clicks on a news feed or whatever, marketing still rolls on taking its toll on our psyches.

Quote:You will obey me while I lead you
And eat the garbage that I feed you
Until the day that we don't need you
Don't go for help . . . no one will heed you
Your mind is totally controlled
It has been stuffed into my mold
And you will do as you are told
Until the rights to you are sold

Is porn harmful, I doubt it. I've almost pulled the top off this fucking thing but it's still with me.

Society should have far more concern regarding the shite our legitimate information channels feed us rather than stuff that is relatively, harder to find.

Compare the two images. We've gone full circle.
This is what happens when you educate woman. When I come to power I'll make all the bastards wear burqas, that way us men won't have to see their miserable crying, whining faces.
It's amazing 'science' always seems to 'find' whatever it is funded for, and never the oppsite. Drich.

RE: porn and women
I'd say overall, no.

Religion is what does harm to women.  I mean it's pretty clear that we're supposed to be property.  Meanwhile in the porn industry, many more women are becoming directors.  The porn industry used to be way worse to women, but it's made major strides.
"Tradition" is just a word people use to make themselves feel better about being an asshole.

Good, because there are a lot more influential things in our society that marginalize women than porn.

But those other influential things are boring and not as sexy as porn to talk about.

I have no idea to be honest. But I reckon that a lot of feminists are pro-porn nowadays?

I mean, tbh, if a woman wants to star in porn... then there's nothing wrong with it.

And, last I checked, women aren't forced into porn.

So I'm probably going to vote no, it's not harmful.

And I also think prostitution should be legalized and regulated... so I don't see why recording it would make it any worse?

How on earth is this more a woman's issue if, as you say, the majority of porn consumers are male? I'm puzzled why your poll question zeros in on the supposed deleterious effects of porn on women when men are equally part of the equation too. Perhaps you feel that women's sexuality - and not men's - needs to be monitored and watched over but not everyone feels that way.

Curious to know people's opinions.

Depends on the women . Some women love doing porn .

Depends on the porn.

Depends on the laws an regulations on the industry .

Depends on the watcher

My answer to all the above would have to be no .

That said, everyone has a choice. If they didn't, it wouldn't be porn. It would be documented rape, which is obviously bad.
That a trend that's very much changed thou .

Yup it definitely should be legal and regulated

Funny thing is thou porn is more associated with men among  female millennials that very much changing . Their is differently a large market for  young women . Also this is proving a good thing for male pornstars as it allows different types of men in .

I never said a word about women's sexuality "being monitored or watched over." Re-read everything ive said in the thread. My concern has 0 to do with that, and everything to do with how porn can condition men to treat/view women as objects, and how it can make women feel insecure about themselves.
