I don't think God requires worship. I think worshipping God makes people feel good because they are so grateful to God. We all perceive God in the way that makes the most sense to us, and our beliefs are all very similar.

Well. If you compare the narrative of say, Jehovah and Zeus, you would realize these are NOT the same being. If they are the same creature then either
A-This being presents itself in such different ways to different people it must have split personality disorder. Or if intentional, it is being maliciously deceptive.
or B-People get the details *so* wrong it is impossible to know anything at all about this being.

Huh, imagine that. Where I live about a third of the population reports as being religious. I guess my city might be an anomaly. Pretty lucky to live where so many people have seen the light. 
Being religious and having a belief in God or a higher power are not considered the same thing by most people. I am not religious, for example.
