It's not that "He's a moron."

It's that he's as knowledgeable about evolutionary biology as, well, possibly just the 'Next man'.

It's NOT his feild of expertise.  Hence my comment on the gentleman not knowing a whole lot about rocket fundamentals either.

What I think maddog is saying is that 'Opinions', outside of people's specialties, they're like @nuses.

Everybody has one.

Cheers.

Right, but I know EvB does fall within this man's specialty (it's part of what he does for a living) and it still doesn't matter.   Amazing!   Hilarious

That's very interesting.

How much and in what way does/is Evolutionary biology covered by the gentleman's field of expertise?

Cheers.

Find out!  Nothing I'm going to say to you is going to convince you or be valid to you in any sense.  Find out!  Look into it!  This is not hard!  The guy is out there and he able to be examined for what he says and what he does.  Find out!  Show a little intellectual curiosity for goodness sake.  If you knew who the guy was and what he does, you wouldn't even be asking me the question.  Find out!  Geez... hilarious! Hilarious

The guy even admits his views are based on his own biases ... from his website quote :- 'So, in addition to my chemically based scientific resistance to a macroevolutionary proposal, I am also theologically reticent to embrace it'

He is not trained in the field he is trying to discredit other than having theological beliefs  .... why not listen to my auntie Mary?

Uhm.....

So, perhaps, you don't know?

Perhaps, like me, you are otherwise engaged and can't give me a quick precis or summarization?

That's okay. I understand.

Cheers.

I find it incredible that you'll dismiss the guy based on nothing.  This is just evidence that you're not even interested in evidence or knowledge of the facts in this area.  Amazing!  I look atheist stuff all the time... but you won't even watch a video.  Incredible!

Tell me the point you want to make from the video  ..... I am not going to wade through hundreds of videos by pseudoscienctists preaching God through the back door  ....

list your arguments showed in the video and the peer reviews that show its accepted by the scientific community and not just his particular God creed ....

I can send you tons of videos too  ....  Dodgy

Look, I get it.  You're not going engage.  He's got nothing to tell you cause he's just a moron from outset.  I get it.  I just find incredible!  I mean, are you kidding?  If you knew who the guy was you'd be laughing too, or maybe crying.  But like I said, I get it.  He makes the point throughout the video.  You can listen to the first 15 to 20 minutes and get the point.  Or even skip to the middle of the video and get the point.  And of course, you're welcome to dispute what he says, but scientists don't dispute it.  They just don't.  And go ahead send me some video refutations.  I'll watch 'em!  And I'll virtually guarantee you that what this guy is saying will not have been refuted at all.  Even secular scientists largely agree with what he's saying.  They may not agree with his conclusion, but they agree with the basic facts he's presenting. Period...end of story.

Well... my layman's rebuttal was I  the post above.

I would expect the gentleman's knowledge on evolution to be as acurate as his knowledge as to the internal fundamentals of rocket plumbing.

But.... if you really want me to go the whole nine yards you'll have to wait for both myself to 'Not be at work' as well as getting in touch with someone who's into the studying of cancer biology.

With the hope they have time for this little pocket of the interwebz and not, y'know, otherwise busy with real life things.

Cheers.

Of course he isn't. Nobody is because nobody knows, Claiming to know is simply false.

Funded by gullible sheep like you.

False. Unevidenced claim. No citations.

I mean, here you've got one of the most credible working commercially viable scientists in the world, certainly in the U.S., telling you the truth about abiogenesis, and you couldn't care less.  If it weren't so sad, it would be hilarious!
He is not the foremost anything and why should anyone care about the ravings of a crank?

You can pick whatever comments you want and pretend that your aunt Mary's comment on evolutionary biology or the concept of abiogenesis has as much relevance as one of the top scientists in the world whose area of expertise does overlap and include abiogenesis if you want.  But it's not going to change the reality.  You have a well put together presentation right in front of you that can be easily evaluated on its merits, and you'll go to whatever lengths you have to in order to dismiss it and refuse to deal with it.  I get it.  I really do.  It's just silly and little sad.  But it's also very funny, which is the one upside to this conversation.  Fingers in the ears, eyes closed, and lah lah lah lah......!  I get it.   Hilarious

Uhm... what G G?

"Well put together presentation" ?

Why care about a 'Presentation' when the actuall thing under discussion is an aspect of 'Science'?

Let's try this a different way G G.

Why should the above mentioned fellow's 'Presentation' hold more weight than an actual, peer reveiwed, paper from a, lets say, anthropologist?

Cheers.

Ill bite.

The rebuttal is from himself, from his website:

Quote:I have been labeled as an Intelligent Design (ID) proponent. I am not. I do not know how to use science to prove intelligent design although some others might. I am sympathetic to the arguments on the matter and I find some of them intriguing, but the scientific proof is not there, in my opinion.

He claims to
  • not believe in ID
  • have doubts about current view on macroevolution
  • not have any scientific proof for ID

Since you are a christian (according to your "religious views"), dont you have arguments in favour of your own claim (that a god exists and has "IDed" us") instead of trying to tear down the arguments of others? If thats all you have, than you have nothing.
Even if (macro)evolution were completely bogus, how does that lend any credibilty to ID, particularly form someone who explicitly denies ID?  Huh

Sounds much like CDF47 "called you" for help (like happened already with a very weird person to suddenly appear out of thin air in this quagmire of a thread). If you excuse me, but to me it looks like the blind called the one-eyed for help in a 3D contest.

All I'm claiming is that any open minded modestly intellectually curious individual should be willing to watch the video and evaluate its content on the merits.  That's all...hahahaha!  Incredible!   Hilarious
