1. Shamash isn't Yahweh? and he isn't even their chief deity Marduk was and he isn't a sun god

OK, so they taught nothing of Him and they did not include Him in their pantheon of gods.  I wonder if they just knew their religion was just a myth religion and there was the One True God which they willingly chose not to serve.

They were as convinced of their gods as you are of yours .Their texts temples and complex theology and cosmology make this clear

True, good point.  They worshiped the creation rather than the Creator.  They willingly made that choice. You don't have to make that same poor decision.
