Religious people are generally cunts like that because they tend to operate according to sheep mentality.

I am sure that could be reworded as a useful maxim along the lines of 'if it quacks like a duck ...'

But then she was applying specifically to be a Catholic school teacher rather than a normal school teacher.

Well apparently she has a friend who immediately asked whether I was Christian; when she said no (something that doesn't bother her) they told her it could never work and she could do better.

I found that pretty hurtful and disgustingly judgmental. How do people judge others based off their religious beliefs so easily and harshly? Before they even know them? And of course now I automatically dislike them, which may not be fair either.

Being from NY I never really felt too much pushback for being an atheist outside of my immediate family, so this was very shocking to me. Guess i need to get out more Tongue
Her friend may seem judgmental but her attitude is trying to ensure that a financial contributor to the con isn't lost because of your girlfriend's involvement with a non-believer = you.  It's always about the money.

we are told not not be unequally yoked with non believers simply because their disbelief will always put a strain on the relationship between us and God and us and out spouces... not that we are to divorice a non believer if we later convert, it just life will be easier if we marry someone who shares the same world values as we do.

People were told that to help maintain the unanimity of the newly formed cult; the Mormons do the exact same thing, as did the cult at Waco.

Yeah, it would be tough to preen when you are chained to someone manifestly smarter.
