Don't remember the clown's user name though.

I was raised as an evangelical Christian fundamentalist, and so, it can and does happen.

I did, well at least from Christianity.  Still haven't embraced Atheism, as I think there's something bigger than us all even if I can't perceive it or even name it.

Though less because of the atheists here and more because of the Christians here.  So many of them are downright assholes who make it pretty clear Jesus wasn't a good guy.
"Tradition" is just a word people use to make themselves feel better about being an asshole.

And then he stopped posting soon after. Dunno

Didn't he have Vincent Price's black/white avatar. It looked like the old bloke who was working for Darth Vader if you ask me.
The one they reanimated for the New SW.

Indeed. Aractus deconverted, but he had some controversial views, ended up ragequitting over the heat he got back. A year or so after deconversion.

Also Jacob(smooth) deconverted, he slowly stopped posting and I dunno what is up with him.

I woke up long before the internet came along.  Books {shudder} did it for me.

Now some wiseass will come along and say "Scrolls."

You can claim me as one! I lurked on these boards for years and along with research and my very scary jump from my fear of hell to logic and reason, I got there. I'm in the closet though as my family and many friends are Christians. I saw how the Xtians acted and responded to science and truth, it disgusted me and turned me away. I went to an fundamentalist evangelical church against my will, my parents forced me to go Angel

I think there are people who have wobbled back and forth, but I think those are mentally unstable folk to begin with. Other than that . . . nope.

I saw several deconversions on a defunct Star Trek message board which had a sub-forum specifically for politics, religion and other controversial stuff. One of the deconverted had been a minister. I saw him go from fundy, to mysticist, to Deist and finally, atheist. It took about three years.

If I hadn't found this forum, I might have faked it to go to the most moderate Church in town for social purposes, at least 6 months after I first became an Atheist, anyway. I tried that for awhile.

All the "God, God , he's so great" got on my nerves though. Even the mild homophobia at that church got on my nerves, too.
