The connection between Christianity and Capitalism

RE: The connection between Christianity and Capitalism
(August 21, 2018 at 12:46 pm)Huggy74 Wrote: There a quote from the Apostle Paul that states "If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable." In other words, if there was no assurance of an after life then there is no point to the life we currently live, and this realization of vanity results in depression.

"We want and need art, music, and the dance. We find pleasure in travel and conversation and in a rich variety of experiences. The sources of human enjoyment are obviously too numerous to detail. But all of them are achievable in a Godless universe. If some can be ours, we can attain a reasonable measure of happiness. Only a Steppenwolfish personality beguiled by impossible expectations and warped by irrational guilts and fears can fail to find happiness in the realization of such ends. But to be free of impossible expectations people must clearly recognize that there is no “one big thing” or, for that matter, “small thing” which would make them permanently happy; almost anything permanently and exclusively pursued will lead to that nausea that Sartre has so forcefully brought to our attention. But we can, if we are not too sick and if our situation is not too precarious, find lasting sources of human happiness in a purely secular world."

You want me to to copy and paste the whole article? It's not like I didn't put up the link so you could go peruse at your leisure... Dodgy

Or actually read articles you post: Despite the high membership figures, only 3% of the population regularly attend Sunday services[3][4] and only 19% of Danes consider religion to be an important part of their life.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Look at my avatar and see what I wrote under religious views...

That being said:

Just under 20% of the Danish population identifies as atheist

LOL! They're not like you: they don't believe in Bible creation story or that the flood happened or that Tower of Babel story is true or that homosexuals are an abomination or even in Jesus' miracles. Rather to them god is like Santa Clause: something they pretend to believe in certain parts of the year to get together as a family.

Here they even spell it out for you:

Quote:As many as 78 percent of the Danish population are members of folkekirken (the state church). Probably relatively few Danes would define themselves as believers, but for many Danes, folkekirken offers some traditions, which they like to use and maintain, such as baptism, confirmation, wedding and funeral.
