To me, such an organisation falls into the spectrum of “needs to have its assets frozen, be thoroughly investigated, and dismantled”.

It’s a shame that the Vatican is itself A) its own sovereign nation, and B) surrounded on all sides by the capital of a nation not only whose balls it has been holding for over 1600 solid years, but has also REPEATEDLY elected a prime minister who’s so corrupt he makes even TRUMP look like Henry Fonda.

Responding to the thread title -- which is problematic because it allows supporters of the RCC to deflect the conversation. Discussing whether or not pedophilia is more common amongst Catholic clergy than other institutions/organizations misses the point by a wide margin.

The only point worth considering is the RCC's complicity and obstruction that enabled even more child abuse.

The real discussion ought to be about exactly how costly a penalty the RCC should pay for its centuries of evil acts. Personally, I'm of the opinion that crimes of the RCC justify its complete dissolution, with the proceeds arising from the sale of every single one of its assets going towards the compensation of its victims. And the list of victims is really, really long.

Anyone else want to start a bidding war for the PopeMobile on ebay?

Right. Follow their putative Jesus! Take a vow of chastity, sell all personal possessions (including all that art and filthy lucre at the Vatican) and spend the rest of their lives ministering to the sick. Without proselytizing. And elsewhere in this thread, I linked to another scene where they called Richard Sipe, a former priest who did a 25-year ethnographic study of the sexual lives of priests. Half were celibate, the other half weren’t (though most settled for the usual heterosexual lifestyle) and a total of 6% of all priests were pedophiles.





Also, it seems that Sipe died of multiple organ failure a couple days ago. He was 85.
