Same here. I can see trying to reduce pain, but I find the idea of 7 billion humans suddenly stop doing what we evolved to do, absurd.

I have no problem with humans eating animals. The only time I draw the line is when the animal is endangered, or you are merely killing it for sport. If you are a real sicko who tortures animals for fun, you need to be put in a rubber room or prison.

But no, I am not against things like hunting or eating animals.

Even the Venus Flytrap eats meat. Flies are not plants, and I am sure when the trap is sprung that fly is frightened and feeling pain when it is squished.

I like how Australian farmers in this vid invest in reducing the agony, which is f overwhelming in the classical slaughterhouses.

What are classical slaughterhouses? This is how they operate in the USA for cattle and pigs. Animals are stunned with a captive bolt or electric shock before being exsanguinated. The heart is still pumping.
If The Flintstones have taught us anything, it's that pelicans can be used to mix cement.

A guy standing on a ledge with a maul?
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

In rich parts of the USA and EU and other rich counties. But you can easily find on the internet footage of brutal slaughtering from recent times.

A better example of the type of operation where fear and agony is overwhelming..might be the sorts of shit the abrahamics get up to so that their steak can be right with god.

They just walk up and slit throats. Get em all lined up..slit a throat..slit a throat..slit a throat..slit a throat. All day long, lol. If you ask me, they're practicing.

There are definitely bad actors in every part of the world.  It would be a mistake..however, to consider them representative of the industry..or even the "classical slaughterhouse".

Those guys with the mauls were pretty good at what they did.

Not eating meat won't stop this at all. So might as well continue.

RE: Ethical slaughterhouses
One of the fundamental truths of food is that there's no such thing as a free lunch.  Wink

We can only choose..when it comes to food..what sort of thing we're going to be personally complicit in.  We should all have some investment in the ethical treatment of livestock (and..more broadly, the ethical consumption of all food resources).  I'll note here that there are, at least..ethical standards in place for livestock.  There are no such standards in place for the treatment of animals displaced, killed, and currently suffering as part of how we produce alternatives to livestock.

We can shift around whatever fear and agony and death occurs as a consequence of us simply existing as we are on this rock as it is. We can decide to kill one animal instead of another, or decide to kill animals in a specific way and not another. To kill animals here, but not animals there. This is the full extent of our ability.
