Sorry for your loss
108. Fuck. Hopefully she led a long, full life.
My condolences, GS.
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

She also used to sing incredibly obscene songs she learned while working as a munitions worker in WWII. I would be interested in that list of songs if you wouldn't mind sharing. Meanwhile for your Granny.

Somebody wrote them down, I'll see if they still have the files.

I grew up listening to English/Irish descended Appalachian hillbillies singing folk songs from the old country like Barbara Allen and Pretty Saro. The movie Songcatcher was a big hit among mom's family because it contained many songs they grew singing. I'm curious if your family was singing the same songs in Missouri.

We moved to Indiana before I started school, so I only saw her on vacations when I was in school. By the time I got back here she wasn't singing much, "a lot of work, ain't it?" The call is out. |
