I'm embarrassed and I've been a recovering Catholic for over 40 years

Is the old cunt senile or evil? A bit of both? I'm incredulous that someone in his position could be so ignorant so dumb. He's STILL being a slimy politician,trying to slither away from personal responsibility and protect his corrupt institution..

I use the term "corrupt institution" intentionally. In my opinion,the extent of child abuse in the Catholic church could not have existed without institionalised protection of the criminals involved.

I recently came across an Aussie website for Aussie victims of abuse by priests. They have a list of known Catholic Australian pedophile priests.There are DOZENS! I felt quite ill and deeply sad for what seems to be how-many-thousands of children. Australia has a population of only 21 million,and is by no means a "Catholic country". The mind boggles---and that's just the Catholics!.

In a more basic sense, Ratzinger is right. The child abuse scandal is the fault of the society. The society is at fault to whatever degree it fails to challenge the primitive pretenses of religion and of religious organizations like the catholic church. I have no doubt the selfsame societies will be at fault again in some more years as its new found vigilance against the deviances of the catholic church wanes and the church once more, in the name of freedom of faith, wiggle for itself a de facto degree of immunity from the proper secular standard of conduct.

It's socitety's fault that the priests in the Catholic Church molested children and the church leaders covered up for them? Way to deflect responsibility!

Why would anyone belong to an organization that has an asshole like this as its Supreme Leader?
