It seems that every time the bar is lowered there is excavation under said bar so that it can go even further down.

I have to assume these people who don't think an attempted assault or rape counts since it was a failed attempt.

I can only guess that if you're already with the in-group, they'll try to keep you in, no matter how toxic you are. My roomie likes to call it the "Good Ol Boy's Club", when talking about a crazy neighbor. He's in the club, so no matter what he does, some people will still hang out with him.
