Meaning behind your username 2.0

[DodosAreDead]

Because they freaking are.

---

On a more serious note: in 2016 I made my first Instagram account with a certain purpose in mind and had a username related to that. When my interest in that specific topic waned, I decided to turn it into a personal Instagram account and didn't want to use a 'basic' or 'cliche' username like _xx(my name)xx_ or whatever, so I was trying to come up with something witty. I didn't actually come up with anything worth using, and I was in a bad place mentally where everything felt hopeless (it was actually just teenage angst  ) so I used savingthedodo, which is clearly a hopeless task (like I felt my life was :/). Thankfully I grew out of that, but the dodo seed had been sown, so I started using the more practical DodosAreDead (although not on instagram... otherwise I wouldn't be revealing that here.)

[Mystic]

I think it has to do with Link in Zelda, I couldn't name myself Link here, some guy in the past took it, but he is a Mystic and a Knight in some respects.

That is why I chose it. Link is my favorite fictional character of all time.

[Nay_Sayer]

I say nay.

Like the knights who say ni?

Or a horse that says neigh?

Like the Fonz; Naaaaaaaaaaaay

[Sal]

First 3 letters of my real name.

[Abaddon_ire]

The ire bit is because I am an irate Irish RCC victim.

Abaddon is the angel of the abyss, gatekeeper of hell as described in revelations 9:11

Might as well annoy all the wingnuts in one go.

[SteelCurtain]

I am a die hard, unashamed, borderline lunatic Pittsburgh Steelers fan.

The Steel Curtain was the nickname of the Hall of Fame Steelers Defensive Line in the 1970's, sometimes refers to the entire defense.

Dwight White, Ernie Holmes, "Mean" Joe Greene, LC Greenwood

When I first started visiting forums, it was a theology forum, and I chose the name apophenia -- the finding of patterns in random data -- as something of an inside joke poking fun at the Christian theists on that forum. So I can definitely empathize. In a similar way, choosing to advertise myself as "The Great Serpent" is both an allusion to the character in Norse mythology as well as a jab at the story of Satan as a serpent in the garden of Eden.

[Little lunch]

Little Lunch was what we called out first break in school followed by Big Lunch.
I ate all my lunch at Little Lunch and I really like food.
I've been thinking of changing to Sea Tomato because that combination of words to me is pretty and makes me feel good.

Do et!

[vulcanlogician]

I feel an affinity for the titular race. Most people view vulcans as logical and fair on the one hand, but pious, arrogant pricks on the other. But I don't see them as arrogant pricks at all. I see exactly where they're coming from 99% of the time.
