Guns are not a factor here. I knew a guy, just a 22 y.o. guy that I worked with, throwed himself in front of a train.

There' s always a high building, bridge or tower.

It would be nice if the terminally minded would at least use a less messy method that some poor schlub is going to have to clean up.

Same here in Ireland and we have a pretty high suicide rate. A friend of mine killed himself a couple of weeks ago. He was 58 and used a rope. Hanging and suffocation are the most common methods of suicide followed by drowning. Who needs guns.

Yeah, I can't see any evidence that guns raise the suicide rate. It's not that hard to kill yourself.

I miss Robin Williams.  Every.single.day.

I wonder what the rest of his life would have been like if there had been a cure for Lewy Body Dementia.  Of course, with all the "over-reporting" of his suicide, it brought the term out into the public so that we could choose to contribute to research for cures/treatments.  I am a regular donor.  I continue to hope that it will have better results than thoughts and prayers.

Dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB) is a type of progressive dementia that leads to a decline in thinking, reasoning and independent function because of abnormal microscopic deposits that damage brain cells over time.

This only anecdotal but I could see myself grabbing a loaded gun on impulse and blam more than taking the time to figure out how to hang myself or whatever. I also don’t think suicide is easy to pull off. I’m against gun control (unless the government disarms first) so I’m not making a case for gun control HOWEVER plain horse sense tells me having a convenient method laying around increases the likelihood of doing it. Frankly, there’s not a statistic available that could cause me to change my mind and it’s impossible to have a control group anyway.

I can tell you that when I was on the verge in 2015, a handgun made it really easy to make an impulsive mistake. I called 911 instead, but a lot don't.

There are a RIDICULOUS amount of reasons for one to be depressed or suicidal in 2018. There are perhaps millions of possible causes, many of which are a result of the current state of the world we live in. I believe today's technology plays a key factor. Young people especially are facing an epidemic of depression.

As a celebrity, as an actor, as someone I had the pleasure to "work with" in a couple of crowd scenes in the movie Patch Adams.  As the star of my favorite romantic comedy movie, ever, (Bicentennial Man), as a loss to the world as a whole of his broad spectrum of talent. As a fellow human being who also suffered from depression.  And as one of the privileged few who were rewarded for our playful catcalls on the set, by having him flash us with full-frontal-nudity.

Friends?  I wish.  One brief conversation I'll never forget.
