In my state for former Senator Jeff Flake's seat there is a battle going on between Sinema (D) and Martha McSally ®. McSally's only selling points is that Sinema hates Arizona because she called Arizona the meth lab of Democracy. (As an Arizona native this is nothing but true. Arizona is Florida lite). Next, her selling point is that Sinema apparently hates the Troops. All because Sinema protested against the Iraq war in a Pink tutu in 2003 (I think?). Next apparently I should vote for McSally because she is friends with Trump and served in the Air Force. LITERALLY...these have been her only selling points. Sinema is a decent person and actually cares. Just see what she does for the VA. Another factor that McSally doesn't take into her account is that Sinema actually has voted with the right 60% of the time. But nope. McSally and her band of idiots like to say Sinema is an anti-american socialist. By the way, Sinema has brothers that have served in the military and one of her brothers is a cop down in Tucson. And guess what? People are actually buying this crap McSallly is selling. Bill Maher was right, Americans are stupid. This is why I will be voting for Sinema. One, out of spite and the other I just can't stand McSally and think she's a piece of shit.

HOWEVER, the AZRepublic recently published a cartoon of Sinema shooting down a plane labeled "McSally's shallow attacks" with a rocket launcher labeled as "substance". And now according to the McSally camp this is "tasteless". McSally has done nothing but attack Sinemas character and rarely on policy.

See the article below.

It has ever been thus with bullies (or egotists). One tiny poke and they wail.

It's funny how the Republicans were pointing out how shallow a campaign it would be for the Democrats to make opposing Trump and Republicans the sole focus of their campaign, yet every Republican ad I see on television is nothing but a shallow attack upon Democrats. They really are shameless hypocrites. One ad I've seen makes the stunning point that the Democratic candidate is "not one of us, he's one of them," well, if you're a kneejerk Republican, I suppose that would be true. But so what? How is that line supposed to appeal to anyone that isn't already in the Republican camp? It goes to a point I suggested in an earlier thread, that political advertising is more about stirring up the base and energizing them to vote, rather than about influencing swing voters. This is similar to how public debates don't so much change minds as give opponents a chance to stir up the faithful. We see that dynamic time and time again at creation v. evolution debates. There was supposedly a study which showed that negative ads were somewhat effective at turning swing voters, but I wasn't able to track down the study to determine how significant a factor that is. I suspect not as significant as the delta in turnout of the base which is purchased with these negative ads. And now, nationally, I see tons of Republican ads linking immigration with crime, illegal voting, and inappropriate welfare benefits, all claims which are pathetically baseless. I don't see how that shit could appeal to anyone but a xenophobic white Republican.

Anyway, I hear Sinema has some issues concerning her story about being homeless growing up. I haven't really paid attention because, quite bluntly, it's simply not my state. But if the allegations are legitimate, she's not exactly a shining beacon of truth and honesty either.

I can only agree with your characterization of McSally's "campaign."  Her only selling point is that she has had her lips surgically attached to the WLB's ass.  Now I am no fan of Sinema, she is far from a progressive, but she is better than another fascist shithead in the senate.  McSally's only plus seems to be that she was a fighter pilot and there is precious little use for that skill in Congress.

Thanks to Arizona's excellent mail-in ballot process I have already voted for Sinema.
