How do you get to a 'billionth' when the current estimated population of the U.S. is under 330 million?
He didn’t say a billionth of the far right. He said a billionth of a fraction of the far right. Nothing says the numerator can’t be much larger than the denominator in that fraction.
You have to be in the brotherhood to experience the privilege of picking on Brian.

Remember "When they go low, we go high!"?
It seems most people don't.
That being said, it is difficult to maintain any sort of civil discourse when one is being constantly insulted and provoked. Eventually people, not radicals, just average centrists and progressives, are going to respond negatively to to constant stream of insults. Particularly when the leader tweets them multiple times a day.
The only way I've found to be civil and sane is to ignore 90% of it. It solves nothing but at least I'm not crying myself to sleep over the state of the politics in the world.
I really don't have any good advice, and I don't think it's going to resolve itself nicely any time soon. But here's an internet hug! It's all I have to offer.

Imagine if enough Germans had seen through the vitriol and political scapegoating of one man. 6 million Jews and 50 million humans worldwide would not be dead.
Yes I did equate the orange turd's rhetoric to Hitler, because it is the same. Sell fear, sell paranoia of others, vilify political rivals and all critics, sell hyper nationalism and offer yourself up as the only solution.
I really am sick of not only the right, but many on the left as well, refusing to see the parallels. Political scapegoating and vilification by those in power never ends up well. To say that cannot happen here, is a fallacy, it has already, in slavery, in lynchings, genocide of Native Americans and Japanese/American prison camps.
The only reason that asshole is being such a dick, is because he wants to distract everyone from his family's business practices and corrupt behaviors. The reason the GOP loves it, it acts as a shiny object away from the fact that they WILL gut social security and medicare and end protections for preexisting conditions to continue to fund long term DEBT created by billionaire tax breaks billionaires do not need.

Whoa, Cato! Long time no see! I was a newbs the last time I’d heard from you. I had started to think that maybe you’d shuffled off the mortal coil. Glad to see you posting again. 🙂

When the office of the Presidency and GOP feel like getting to the point in that picture, I will relax a bit. But right now, the President wants to be an authoritarian bully and the GOP is willing to keep the power, no matter how immorally it was obtained.

I think it's gone beyond the point of civil discourse now. After a while, you can't be polite to bullies who only understand force.
This isn't going to end well. America is so divided and something's going to have to break before it becomes one nation again.

I get grief from both camps. One can no longer have a conversation with either of them. If if I criticise the left on some issue, depending on the subject, I’m a something phobic, racist anti refugee Zionist loving asshole. If I criticise the right I’m a left wing commie fuck who supports immigrants coming in and sponging off the state. As one of my hobbies is winding people up, it can be fun. But in general I can’t be arsed, I just keep my mouth shut, unless it gets personal.

The fundamental viability of civility depends on the existence of some shared underlying priorities, such as my right to vote is important to you too. Otherwise civility can be nothing more than an optional tactic to be chosen for discarded as the needs dictate, So that just as faking civility could pay Dividends before some audience, so not parting with it when bareknuckle approach is called for invites defeat.
