Is this trolling on my part?

RE: Is this trolling on my part?
Or a message in questions for staff then perhaps, or a PM? Either way the report function can be used to bring stuff to our attention whether it’s ‘actionable’ or not if you get my drift.

I’m sort of keen to close this thread as I don’t want it to descend into calling out territory considering the other poster in question is being discussed (who as you rightly say hasn’t broken the rules either).

Regardless I don’t think this is the forum to have this discussion.

RE: Is this trolling on my part?
My Mom was a Catholic and the only in person person I knew whom liked ABBA like I do.

To quote Yoda, "Do, or don't do, there is no try".

Look, CL, the only way anyone would get me to agree that magic crackers work, was if I was slipped a mickey, or roofie, or suffering from dementia or brain cancer.

Out of all the theists here, you hold your own CL. You are wrong in feeling the need for a cosmic security guard. But, between you, and other theists in the world, I would trust to to baby sit my cat. He is my kid.

I've had this happen to me on another forum. There were some people who were so upset with me that it was almost insane -- for example, typhoon rains caused mudslides which killed 80 of my neighbors, and my online "enemies" took this as an opportunity to make jokes and nasty comments. People act this way.

It's a challenge and a chance for you to rise above. Always take the high road. Always respond with the truth, if a response is even necessary. If there's a lie, you can say unemotionally what the truth really is. They will probably respond with more lies, but there's nothing to be done about that. They are liars. They are like the people who fart in elevators -- disgusting, inconsiderate, but no reflection on you. You have to endure it and then walk away.

You can make use of the forum tools, cooly responding, cooly asking for moderation if they break the rules. If it gets to be too much, walk away -- it's not worth losing your cool over. They want to see you lose it so they can make you feel worse.

In the long run you will look back and feel pleased if you behave as the mature and honest person in the exchange.

Is it trolling for me to repost to his nasty posts about me with a short response like "love ya babe!" or "lol"
or something of the sort?

Part of me is like, well he brought my name into this and said something nasty, so my sarcastic and short response is warranted. But then I wonder if my response to him could he perceived as me egging him on, since I'm not really trying to talk or anything.

Sorry that is happening and I'm sorry you're the lightening rod for this sort of thing.  My own advice would be to leave off responding to and if possible reading those posts.  I believe your intention was to project a nonchalance you don't actually feel in the hopes of ending it without needing help or looking weak.  But it obviously isn't working out.  Might be time to engage that ignore button.  It has worked for me.

It depends on the poster. If it is someone I like or respect, or someone I considered a friend, it hurts my feelings, yes. But him? Nah. It's just funny to me.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

Administrator Notice
Ok gonna lock this thread considering we don’t think this is the right place to have this discussion, and I hope the OPs query has been resolved (if not feel free to PM the staff).

Cheers

Aaaand, this is why it's best just to ask us or report it. Guys, just stay out of it. She's fine. She's not trolling anyone by replying to comments about her.

CL, respond however you want.

Boru

I’m honestly baffled by the way CL is treated by people on this forum.

I hope you're not lumping me in this comment. CL and I are perfectly capable of hashing out our real or imagined issues without people having to have an opinion about it. If you weren't thinking of me, sorry for the kneejerk. Carry on.

I'd also point out that you can't possibly be privy to every conversation anyone has ever had with her, or anyone's history with the RCC, so while it may baffle you, it may make perfect sense to the people who aren't fans of her. I'd like to think she doesn't have to have everyone like her, and she'll be just fine. For me, I've had it out with numerous people on this forum whom I still consider friendly. I think she's done the same. No big.
