I like plutchik's wheel of emotions, especially that motions can be positive or negative. I disagree that they can't be neutral, I believe that's where indifference or non-emotion lies and that's the opposite of emotional. So you can either be at 0 or +4love or -2hate , etc.

Btw for me opposite of love this is kind of indifference...we know that we can love and hate someone in the same moment... so for me the opposite of love is the lack of any feelings ... lack of interest ... no reaction to someone or something ... so I bet on indifference ...but of course according to the dictionary, the opposite of love is hatred ... and I'm not going to argue with it😀

I would say indifference. Love implies a feeling that we're often willing to act upon and so does hate. Apathetic often means no feeling at all.

Yeah, if we were putting them all on a wheel of emotional investment, and trying to keep hate and love at opposite poles..we'd need two placeholders for indifference, but indifference can't exactly be the opposite of indifference.

So, to my mind, it's more like;
love hate
like dislike

The thing is, human emotions and the way the brain works are complex and differ from person to person.
