When people die, strange seems to come out of the woodwork.

Thanks guys. I'm actually pretty good, even though I may sound bitter. Putting it down in words is therapeutic.
I just want to get this probate shit done with and pick up my life where I left off. 
Sorry to hear about your dad. Sometimes we wish we were closer with people in our family, that things were different, but unfortunately most families are not anywhere near perfect. There are some people in my family I've pushed away because they were/are toxic. I wish things were different, but as they stand things will not change because I refuse to let people treat me like crap.
Still, even if we HATE a loved one (weird, right?) we are often going to be sad when they leave us. Condolences.
If you're frightened of dying, and you're holding on, you'll see devils tearing your life away. But if you've made your peace, then the devils are really angels, freeing you from the Earth.
