Name days are very steeped in tradition for Orthodox countries ie: the OP. (as is the Greeks as well)

I remember mum inviting "their" friends over to celebrate "my" name day every year or so!

Since my Christian name is Dionysius, I'm assuming that my name day if after the God?

Not sure what day that is, so I drink every day to be on the safe side...
