I think the sense that Germany is in Darwinian competition with its European neighbors and it must win had been prevelent in the German society at least as early as 1870s.

#1 Social Darwinism
Social darwinism was a common movement in the second half of the 19th century. You seem to (want) to project/attribute a common movenment of the time to Germany/germans alone. Please support your assertion-

#2 Social darwinism and racism
Social darwinism=! racism, they are related but not identical.
If you think that germans were more racist than other europeans and racist towards them, then you need to demonstrate it. Particularly by showing how germans perceived themselves to be a different race than other europeans.
Looking at the colonial empires, errected by force and fed by racism, Germany was probably the least racist country, less opressive to the rest of the world than Portugal, Britain, Belgium, Netherlands and France (as i already said, it was just as racist, but less successful in putting this into action, because....the administration didnt want to). If you claim that the german population thought different than its administration (Bismarck) then, in returan, you need to demonstrate that the population of the other european countries also had opposing views as to how their administrations acted towards the rest of the wold.

#2 I have demonstrated that at least the administration of the Reich was not destined "to win" and beat everyone else at least until ca. 1890 (likewise for Weimar). Please demonstrate that the populace did, according to your original claim "1870-1945" . Saying "i think" is not sufficient to me.

I repeat what common sensus is: That germans were nationalist like everyone else, and racist to other (non european) races like every other european as well. Social darwinism was common, and germans didnt perceive themselves to be a different race (than other europeans) until 1918.
