I'm pleased for you.

I'd say equally important was flying to Australia to meet my best friend who was in a nursing home from a stroke. He passed away earlier this year, I am glad I got to see him even if only one time.

But I'd be remiss to say it was only one or two events. I think the absolute most important era in my life was moving down here to take care of my late mother. We always loved each other, but growing up we were not good roommates and we didn't understand each other. But when I moved down here to take care of her, we grew very close and over time grew to understand each other.

Can you pin it down to an actual day? The day when you thought to yourself I love being alive.

Life isn't all up or all down, so I find the thread a bit utopian.

No, I have had ups and downs throughout my life, and ultimately my ticker will give out. So the only thing I can do is highlight certain moments, but there really is never "one" moment.

Life is worth living to me right now, even with all the ups and downs.

There is always a balance between quality and quantity, and over a lifetime you cannot pragmatically pin the good or bad down to one event.

I gave you examples of my highlights, but there was never 1 single event. I've had some shitty times too, like losing my mother last year.

Fair enough mate. I was just asking because I'm struggling to pin a day down myself. I've had ups and downs myself, mainly downs in my case... Thanks for the reply.

Don't torture yourself with trying to do that. Life is never one moment, but a lifetime of moments, and it is never all high or all low, but more like a roller coaster. Some people have a more bumpy ride, some crash, some reach the top, but most, if lucky can have ups and downs and the bumps are manageable.

I’ll never forget it.  It was the day we defeated the armies of the Caliphate at Tours.  There we were, pinned down in a hail of deadly Japanese artillery fire...no, wait. That was a dream I had.

Best day ever: the first time my father came to one of my gigs. He was pretty dead set against my becoming a musician. At the end of my set, he kissed me and said, ‘I’ll tell your mother to stop worrying. I’m proud of you.’

I remember that!  I thought you did pretty well, considering you'd been mostly dead all day.  Good work.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think you're taking my question very seriously. If you aren't I'm very disappointed in you Tongue
