Make Atheist Forums Great Again (Part 1)
RE: Make Atheist Forums Great Again (Part 1)
It hasn’t reached the official rules page yet. There’s more to come. Just take everything as a soft rollout for now.

Keep telling yourself that.

Is that so? How does that remotely change what I said? I sent her a link to that thread. You don’t think that thread had anything to do with it? I’m shocked you’re again defending the indefensible. /s

Can we talk about the forum updates or not?

I just think it's inaccurate and unfair to the people on that thread to say that this person was "maliciously bullied" by them and left because of that. And I say this because my identity was also questioned, for a while, when I came here. I was more than happy to prove people wrong, and doing so was simple. It was suggested on that thread that someone PM the person and ask them directly. So one of her buddies did. And never heard back. My guess is they left because they had been found out, and not because of any malicious bullying.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

Have courage and be kind..... Hahahahahahahahhahaha

I think you need to look at yourself here CL.
Did you take the persons feelings into account with your actions? I think it was all very unkind and uncalled for.

Sorry for not staying on topic, but hey.

Sorry for not staying on topic, but hey.

The topic came up on that thread, and it is true, I gave my thoughts and my opinions on it.

You are right that I probably shouldn't have, and it wasn't kind. I knew the truth for a long time and never said a word, but got carried away and gave my thoughts when it came up. I'm not a perfect person.

That being said, I also don't think it is fair to accuse those people of maliciously ganging up on someone and bullying them, and saying it is their fault that the member in question left.

If you make up lies about yourself, and people find out and say something publicly, in a different forum, is it entirely their fault that you leave? Are they bullies who maliciously ganged up on you? I agree it should have been handled better, and Cap admitted the same. I apologize for giving my thoughts on it. I don't agree though, that it is entirely those people's faults or that they are bullies.

(PS- this doesn't apply to the particular rumor about money. That I did not agree with, and I said as much on the thread)

That's making an assumption, CL. I'm not going to instigate a discussion here, and I haven't read the thread there, but I have to wonder whether your assumption/conclusion is really justified or if instead, rather plausibly, you're making that assumption because it gives you an out for your behavior.

By "my behavior", you mean me having given my thoughts on that thread? If so, I've already admitted that I shouldn't have. I still stand by those thoughts, but it is true that I shouldn't have made them public.

That's one of the shoes. The other is whether you were making an unjustified conclusion about the facts.

I stand by that conclusion, as the evidence is pretty overwhelming, especially now. I won't be talking about it though, as I am trying to avoid doing the same thing I did on AD. It'll just cause more damage to the person in question.

Anyway, it's kind of counter productive that this is all being brought out into the open here on AF. It was already spilled on AD when it should have been said privately. Now it is just being further spread around.

Names were brought up (mine included), accusing us of doxing, ganging up on, and bullying, and it was said that we should be blamed for the member's absence. So I felt I should say something about that because I felt it was unfair and inaccurate. But I have otherwise no intention of bringing this here or repeating my mistake by talking about it again.

I don't want to get into it, either, except to note that mobs generally find what they're looking for, whether it's true or not. That tends to be a self-fulfilling prophecy. It's true with the mobs on the left, it was true when they lynched black kids as rapists, and it was true when they hanged witches at Salem.
