When family invites you to church for the holiday

RE: When family invites you to church for the holiday
I ask if it' s BYOB, or open bar.

If they say no to both, I laugh hysterically and say "I suppose strippers is right out of the question then?"......

They don't usually ask twice.

I would just go.... Keep raising your hand throughout and ask awkward questions. They wont ask you to go again.

I've been an outspoken atheist for decades. My family know better than to invite me to church. Tut Tut

Depends on how it's done and the intent behind it, I guess.
You say they know how you feel about it, but they can just hope you change your mind, or they can just want everyone together, or, or, or, or...
Or they may think that exposure will lead you to their way of seeing things.

Is it a war worth having?
You know how you think, how you are... What will you lose if you go? A couple of hours of watching tv?
What might you gain? Family appreciation?
What is now important to you?

My family knows I am an atheist, so they don't even ask.

Mine keep asking after all this time. But I don't like snakes very much.

I got in a fairly heated discussion with my Dad today. My tone wasn't pleasant at times and I regret that. He wants to believe and doesn't seem to know much about Christianity. We're not going to church though.

And another question:

Which "holiday" do you speak of?

For me: holiday = vacation.

My family know never to invite me to church.

Playing Cluedo with my mum while I was at Uni:

"You did WHAT?  With WHO?  WHERE???"

Last time I went, they had a little play about why the Jews are always so sad. I don't want to chance something like that again.
I'm not anti-Christian. I'm anti-stupid.
