The Drug Questions

You'll never get a firm answer from anyone who blindly follows the law. The best you can hope for is "because it is a DRUG!" or "because it is illegal."

I'm pretty sure that any discerning individual could only answer honestly by saying, "Pot is not worse than alcohol." To be honest, I think politicians are simply too scared to go back on so many years of prohibition. What would they say? "Oh, well, we've been wrong for decades and we take it back?" Think of all the pot dealers languishing in prison right now. They deserve an apology, but do you think any politician would be willing to give them one? I don't.

That's why it was so funny that she got upset when Ann teased me. If to her the only reason it's more evil is because it's illegal, why should she give me shit that my obedience is only because the same? The law is there to make me not do something...I don't have any reasonable excuse to break it. [shrugs] I shouldn't worry about her logic, it just made me wonder how it even got to be dubbed "evil" at all. People were using opium for years, yeah? And plenty of other substances in small quantities until we became too uptight.

The criminalistation of drugs such as marijuana, heroin, cocaine, speed, and 'designer drugs' were political decisions with the usual interference by the religious right.

There is no medical, practical or economic reason for any drug to be illegal. There are however, many arguments covering all of those areas for the legalisation of ALL illegal drugs.
