Whyizit?

I suspect that's an unfounded concern of yours as opposed to an actual fact.  We have pretty stringent gun control measures in NZ, and still manage to have well over a million privately owned firearms in a country of less than five million people.

I can do that too...

Simple fact - he made it very clear that he felt magnanimous - simply allowing us to have guns.
Side note - I remember the look on the sheriff's face ( also on gun board) when said prosecutor made his little pronouncement. He was clearly embarrassed to be associated with the guy...

You do realize that the primary goal of gun control measures is to keep guns out of the hands of assholes, yes? I mean...if you want to call it “asshole control”, feel free to do so.  But that doesn’t change the fact that you’re talking about the same kind of legislation that pro-gun control folks are talking about.

No. That is simply not the case.

The primary purpose of gun control measures is to prevent ANYONE from owning them.

I' ve been involved with this subject over 40 years.

A friend of mine and I once applied for concealed carry permits - in the dark days before " shall issue" legislation.

Were we qualified?? The US government seemed to think we were trustworthy. I was qualified expert in small arms - and had maintained a top secret security clearance during my time in service. My friend was likewise qualified working his time for the State Department (at Langley).

The county prosecuter was on the gun board - which decided if we could be issued concealed pistol permits. He told us - "You're just lucky we let you KEEP guns".

Happily - he' s long out of office. I heard he'd been disbarred for something or another.

And I've had my concealed license now for 17 years, carry ever day - and have had no incidents whatsoever.

So don't tell me the purpose of gun control is to keep guns away from criminals.

Lol, wait, what?! Because 17 years ago, one wacky prosecutor (who was subsequently disbarred) made a comment, that somehow translates into, ‘the purpose of gun control measures is to prevent anyone from ever getting guns’?

You’re adorable.

I gave anecdotal evidence. I have more if you'd like.

Talk to pro- Brady people. I have.

I have heard these people admit - their ultimate goal is to eliminate all guns from private ownership - one law at a time.

Okay, buddie. 👍 I talk to people who think the earth is flat, so...that’s about how much I value anecdotal evidence.

Your concealed carry, well good for you.

But that is just you. If you are going to rightfully agree with me that not everyone should have a firearm, via "just keep them out of the wrong hands" and then suggest the ID idea which I agree with, then how is dead less dead, open carry or concealed? Or do you think because nothing has happened to you so far, that magically you could have stopped the Dallas shooter who murdered several cops?  The murdered cops in Dallas I am sure had far more training than you do..

Obviously this particular lawyer had issues, you said he got disbarred?

Can we at least agree that it's more likely you were dealing with an asshole than that this guy was the tip of the gun seizing spear announcing their battle formation?
