Trademark, copyright, and patent laws do mean something and are enforced in china.  They have the same problems with that enforcement that we do..for the same reasons. OTOH, they lack some of our problems, such as patent trolling - though this hasn't always been so. It was only last year that patent trolls were conceptually classified as extortionists.
