Hillary was literally the only among either party that actually makes my hair stand up a little. That fucking creepy smile-- full teeth, no light in the eyes-- is the stuff of Halloween movies. But I already knew she was soulless when she didn't cut Bill's dick off on live TV.
I was pretty pumped about Bernie 4 years ago, but I just don't think he's got the shelf life to press on anymore. Ageism maybe, but death is a reality.
She won the pop vote. That's alot of nobodies. Ask one dem, she's a radical leftist identity warrior, ask another, she's a tasteless cardboard cutout of a candidate. One person sees her as soulless and another as a person who mistakenly stood by her man. Some people think she -did- cut bills dick off, and others that she really never cared about bills dick anyway, knamean?
The narratives surrounding her were widely designed to impede her progress and it's frankly impossible for most of them to be true simultaneously. It seemed strange, to my mind..because theres plenty about her not to like that doesn't require any of the make believe whatsoever.
In any case, the idea that some centrist dem is the most electable candidate has been the selling point of centrism for some time (and we're hearing the pitch again, for this next election), always chasing that mythical middle..even though it's been clear for a long time that the red voters aren't sitting on the edge of their couches just waiting for a suitable democrat that they can defect to. The reds are flat out trolling the blues. A "strong middle" isn't what america needs, or what the dems need. That;s just what the republicans would prefer. They would very much like to present america with a republican and a raving rightwing lunatic. That way, they can't lose...but more importantly, there is no "other guy" to win.

Centrist dems are boring by design. "Charismatic" is just another word for "radical". The point of centrism, as a campaign strategy, is to avoid that bullet entirely. To seem like the calm grownup in the room (and by implication paint the other asshole as a charismatic radical).

Obama wasn't boring by design, nor was Clinton. I consider them both centrist, especially Obama.

As an outsider, i didn't really get Hillary Clinton until she failed to divorce bill's arse for getting a blow job in the oval office. Not only a public humiliation for her, but so damn tacky--Then I realised ohhhhhhh; her wants to be madam president. Yeah, I noticed the smile which doesn't reach the eyes.
---I totally got Sarah Palin the first time I heard her speak.
Aussies tend to have a healthy contempt for virtually all politicians.
I have a long held perception that a large number of Americans actually believe campaign promises.
I loved watching Obama campaigning; brilliant orator. He promised to close Guantanamo Bay prison. He didn't. I'm not close enough
to judge his presidency.
As for the incumbent; all I know is what I see on TV, read in the Huff post US and what an expat American friend tells me. It ain't good. I'ms so grateful he ain't ours. He wears nice suits.
