It shouldn't be impossible to thread the needle between the two viewpoints.  To whatever extent human action (and mere existence) is directly or indirectly eradicating a species...-and- to whatever extent some more beneficial and symbiotic event or relationship exists between humans and some other species...both are examples of nature taking it's course.  

We've become one of the most powerful natural pressures on the planet, for good and for ill.

I've seen footage of firefighters give water to koalas who were suffering because of a fire.
I've seen footage of firefighters giving drinks to koalas. I didn't think it was reprehensible.

Nope.

There are only two things my species does that I hate: breathing and breeding. If they stopped that I'd like them a lot more.
